It would make some sense - see my post #108 a few days ago.

Mention has been made of 34092 City Of Wells. IIRC, she's visiting the Bluebell in July and probably not venturing away from home before that.

Not sure they'll get 21C123 running by April. :)

Hoping to see a bulleid wearing golden arrow. Is there a railway with it.

In answer to your question, SR has both long and short arrows (for proper and de-tuned Bulleids), along with Golden Arrow headboard and regalia (funnily enough the flag bracket is in my office!), however it has not yet been discussed whether they will be used during the Bulleid-fest.

Your best bet might he the Bluebell. City of Wells is visiting for the end of Southern Steam weekend (8th-9th July) - an ex- 73A Golden Arrow regular loco and the Bluebell does run a Pullman train of that name. I'm not talking in any official capacity but the prospects of having such a suitable loco paying a visit does strike me as something the Bluebell may well want to exploit. The Bluebell usually puts the regalia on whatever is pulling the carriages, even though it's some time since they have had an appropriate engine like Bulleid in working order. 34059 will be hopefully back next year. Never a GA loco, but it will look better with the regalia than the Q or the C Class!

Also, UK Railtours is apparently planning a recreation of the Golden Arrow with Clam Line on Wednesday 13th September. Details to be released next month.

GA regalia is hardly appropriate for the Swanage event. The last steam-hauled GA ran on 11th June 1961 and ran on SECR lines to Dover. This year, we are marking 50 years of the end of Southern Steam, which was concentrated on LSWR lines. The only active steam locos in Kent in 1967 were the two USA shunters at Ashford works.

Then in workaday BR Passenger Green, if I recall correctly, and now in ex-works lined Malachite Green with "British Railways" on the tender.
So, the locomotives now confirmed for 'Strictly Bulleid' [31st March to 2nd April] are:
34052 'Lord Dowding' (actually 34046 'Braunton') - Rebuilt
34053 'Sir Keith Park' - Rebuilt
    34070 'Manston' - Original
    34081 '92 Squadron' - Original
34092 'City of Wells' - Original

Booked accommodation for the Saturday night in Swanage. Quite reasonable, too. Might see about breaking up the journey down by staying somewhere en-route on Friday night- five hours driving from York is a bit much in one go!
