There comes a time though when you have to take the plunge and try somthing new to try attract a new/ bigger crowd, look at the SVR's event this year for example

You are absolutely right there Sir the gala was a superb not to be missed event, thats what the WSR should be aiming to replicate. Variety is NOT a dirty word

I would also happily see a Class 50 there but I doubt the politics would allow that, sometimes people have to remember galas are put on for visitors not for 'the locals'.

Whatever happens D7018 will be a welcome returnee and at least one 'new' mainline loco will help to bring in the new number brigade who have to be taken account of plus a couple of other preserved visitors that have been mentioned earlier.

I'm not a massive fan boy of the WSR, critic maybe,so much so it contributed to my 3 month ban from here,

Lets just wait and see what happens,
Never know hell might freeze over and I might praise them.

Of course but your missing the fact until recently, there's been a culture of balls to what the public think we can do what we like its our train set,

But hang on a mo hasn't a certain person rather high up in WSR circles stuck their head up above the parapet and said 'ok give us some sensible suggestions, as to what you'd like to see' to me that's the complete opposite of 'it's our train set' that's someone at least willing to listen and maybe try something a bit different.

I think you will find it's in many pieces at present - only the chassis being in the goods shed. This is unlikely to change before next summer.

Talking of which a 20 did make an appearance some years ago, but only as far as Crowcombe. It was very popular, and I'd crawl through a field of broken glass to get a run over the whole of the WSR!

D8110 and I believe it rather annoyed the Hardcore 20 men who spent the weekend down there for it!

Can't remember the exact details but at the 2016 Swanage gala, the pair of 20s were coupled nose to nose in one direction (Norden to Swanage) and always cab to cab in the other direction (Swanage to Norden). For some reason - brakes presumably - the same engine always had to be coupled to the train and the other one act as pilot.
