    Just posted provisional timings for this trip behind Duchess of Sutherland at www.uksteam.info. Now via Bristol both ways. It looks as if the steam legs are Bristol-Kingswear-TAunton although this remains to be confirmed.

    Definitely looks that way as the train is tucked away in the bay at NTA in each direction for the change of motive power. So a somewhat truncated steam experience with Steam Dreams. That company really has struggled this year to get anything to run as expected, Ireland excepted.

    Blimey. Bristol to Newton is just 94 miles and if the locomotive is coming off at Taunton on its return, the total mileage is 145. Not great but I guess just about okay. If she goes through to Bristol then we are just short of 200 miles at 188. Sounds much better.

    Anyone on train? Presumably 47580 remained on the rear to runaround at NA. No LE move to Hackney Yard. Just watched a clip at Flax Bourton and sure enough 47580 was on the rear, not appearing to be assisting there.

    Please see #8 about the chances of SD being able to get the best outcome with WC. It appears that only the RTC can call in favours with them. At least there is one set-up that can do it.

    Yes, 47.580 was at the rear when I filmed the train at Flax Bourton this morning.

    11 coaches today, of which 10 were maroon. A far cry from the days when we had several sets of stock with mixed liveries. As I recall, one set was known as the 'Pilkington' set and another the 'Rainbow' set. <BJ>

    But they did have the unique coffin lid tables on an overhead rack in each compartment (tangled in the netting most times) that did serve as somewhere to put the beer glasses.
