Strange how the Duchess seems to have lost her Stanier hooter and gained some weedy whistle that sounds very like 60163 in the following clip????

Sounds more like somebodies text alert on a mobile phone RalphW, no sign of steam when the supposed whistles go off early in the video.

Certainly Tornado's at 1:40 sounds fine to me.....

6023's whistle, in the distance, at DRC.

I would have thought it was to loud to be from a phone, and to close to be at DRC?

Was stood on the platform at Chester le Street recently, waiting for 60103, and my iphone text tone is an soundalike for a chime whistle.

It went off twice in quick succession, the scramble for cameras was hilarious.

Just shows how people can be suckered in...

That's what the video poster put on YouTube. The platform on number 8 road (where 6023 probably was) is about 50 yards away from the station. :)

For those who are interested it looks as though the stock for the Steam Dreams trip on 14/8 is going to KGX on Saturday evening (13/8) and sits there overnight in Platform 1 until the train leaves on Sunday at 0906. Looks like a sleepover for the Duchess as well.

It's just a P.R.I or preliminary route indicator. Just an earlier warning to the driver of which route is set at the junction ahead.

Anyone know anything about Tornado doing a LE move today (14th August) as I can't find any info on the A1 Trust website or UK Steam?

I was at the Arsenal vs Liverpool match earlier and about 15:30 she passed the stadium and blew her LNER (high pitched) whistle as she passed. I got a couple of pics I can upload. Was about the only highlight of my time there today and took me by surprise.

Thanks I couldn't find any info about it as it caught me off guard.

Edit: though thinking about it I think the NVR has its East Coast event coming soon so assume the move was in relation to that.

Think it's the first time I've seen 60163 since 2013.

Yes, she's now safely tucked up at Wansford.

I was removing faces from locos after our Thomas weekend when she came in last night and couldn't help but think how good she'd look with one one ;)

She's got various fish and chip trains and driver experiences before the BH weekend.
