Not on the seawall and a 5XP sounds somewhat different to a Scot anyway.
Anyway, I'm off to Leighton Buzzard on Sunday in all probability as they are advertising a beer tent selling local ales. :)

A rumour is circulating that 46100 has failed its FTR.

    Good luck for tomorrow,

    Cheers, Neil.

I've heard the same rumour, possibly from the same source as Romsey. There was a suggestion that enquiries have been made about the availibility of Tornado and/or Braunton but my guess is that the call came too late to get either one lit up, FTR'd and a l/e path to Bristol organised in time. DL seems much more likely.

Now confirmed diesel. There was a possibility that 60163 would be brought down from Stewarts Lane where it was already in steam.

There's nothing on TBEL, Pathfinder or Icons Websites or Social Media this morning so we'll have to go to BTM to find out what's going on. No on the day contact information to confirm this which is pretty poor in 2016.

Well this is all tremendously disappointing - my main line 'curse' is set to continue! Given the cost involved I think I may become another to give up on such things - the odds of getting what you believed you were paying for are just too small.

A lot of very disappointed people at Temple Meads this morning. £30 credits of £15 refunds seem unlikely to persuade many to return. My return ticket cost over £100 - an off peak return to Paignton would have taken half the time and cost a third of the price.

Still a few photographers out who clearly hadn't got the message. Running a few minutes late, which doesn't feel significant as we still have to run to schedule. Rumours of injector problems still not properly sorted.

Big overhaul. Teething problems to be sorted out. Yes, the locomotive has put in a few miles since returning to steam but as we know with Galatea, time is sometimes needed to sort out any snags. And I suspect the Scot's commitments in Scotland mean that nothing is going to be left to chance for up there.

Really appalling lack of communication from TBEL. The failure was known about at 1900 last night yet they posted nothing. This morning at BTM the 'greeters' didn't even tell us there would be no steam. In fact all they were telling early arrivers was that the train was departing from Platform 7. When we asked the question we were told the train would be 66 hauled and then not to tell anyone. The 'Management' didn't arrive with the 'Apology' letter until 0730 ish. Very poor PR. There's also a conspiracy theory doing the rounds that the injector issues were know about before the FTR. Couldn't get that confirmed but perhaps someone from LSL would like to tell it like it is.

This 'odd' post appeared in the TBEL News Section on Monday 18th. There wasn't anything similar before the July 3rd or 10th trains:

The next Torbay Express steam train to the English Riviera is on Sunday 24 July when 'Royal Scot' No. 46100 is booked to haul the train for the last time this year, subject, of course, to passing all the necessary tests!.
