Just had an interesting email from RTC:

    NEWSFLASH

We are pleased to announce that due to other steam locomotives having issues at present our Swanage Belle tour on Thursday 14th July and our West Somerset Steam Express tour on Saturday 16th July will now both be hauled by 46115 Scots Guardsman.

Both of these tours still have some limited spaces available so if you would like to book to travel behind this locomotive please follow the links below to our website in order to place your booking.

I think they are taking a risk with 46115

I had the e-mail as well. Interesting development.
During the End of SR Steam trip on Saturday when we stopped for water at Winchfield I was standing behind the Footplate crew on the Platform trying to take a picture and I heard one of them say to the WCRC support crew that one of the injectors on the Jubilee was leaking. A member of the support crew said that 45699 needed a new injector. I wonder if this is the problem?

    Whats wrong with Galatea?

    Edit.
Ah as I was asking, the answer was provided. Have to say, they were not nursing it home up the fast to Waterloo, It was on a flyer!

Could they not borrow an injector from another loco that's in for repair ? (If that's what's needed).

Fair play to WC, it would have been very easy to have abandoned steam haulage. Maybe the performances of 46100 in the south West has sparked some rivalry.

I can't decide whether to try and get the day off work and then book it up tomorrow. I wonder if there will be any seats left at lunchtime tomorrow after I would have found out if I can have the day off Thursday
    Decisions, decisions.

This extra work "down south" is an unexpected bonus for Carnforth. Last summer, they had 4 regular weekly turns but this year they've none. The closure of the northern S&C has prevented The Dalesman and The Fellsman from running and, barring the unexpected, Flying Scotsman is rostered for The Waverley on Sundays. I know that, to some extent, they are covering for one of their own locos, Tangmere.

It's pretty much all gently downhill to Waterloo, so significantly less effort required for a fast run than outbound.

Yes I was expecting to have seen 5v42 with a departure time of 11:23 activated, but by 11:00 it hadn't been.

Booking option has been removed from RTC site (it has disappeared from the drop down box on the booking page). Is there a problem? It was not full up earlier, plenty of seats in STD (over 50 left when I checked).
They usually keep the online booking option open till the last minute.

I have a bad feeling about this - nothing on RTT to show a LE/hauled move south. Cancelled/diesel tomorrow?

She's definitely on her way. See the link in Mrknowwun's post, # 16.
Passed Stafford about 10 minutes ago.
