Anyone at Salisbury? Is there a problem as RTT seems to have FS still in the platform 15 minutes late?

Presume the fire is not railway related.

My footage of her in good form at Upton Scudamore and West Grimstead Crossing near Salisbury. Enjoy!

Seemed to be doing nothing when it approached reading. And friend just texted a photo from Sonning and it looks be be coasting again. Guessing it is being shoved fro behind.

It could be the injectors playing up again. She was shoved on the return journey last week due to the injectors deciding not to work after Whitchurch. I saw her between Basingstoke and Reading last week and the diesel was doing all the work.
Or dare I say it NR have said there is a fire risk?

Same at Twyford despite being switched to the up fast line. Under green signals it FS passed barely doing 30mph compared to near 60 last Saturday and with steam shut off. But would you believe it, the diesel was chucking out a load of muck at the back giving it one hell of a shove. Poor show. If like DB, where assistance is only given if it is needed and requested from the front, perhaps there was a problem with FS?

Such a shame really because there were dozens of people out to see FS and all I heard was negative comments about her speed or lack of it!!

Here is the evidence from my i-phone. You can clearly see the diesel fumes from a loco clearly pushing.

There have been some really great images and videos of Scotsman today and on its previous trip down to Salisbury. It clearly draws the crowds as it always used to and the two Salisbury runs were a good call by Steam Dreams to give the loco exposure in the south. Having said all that, the fact that the loco is taking a friend almost everywhere it goes, for all the good reasons that I am sure exist, does take the edge off it for me. I expect there will come a time when the route and the load will be ok for West Coast to trust her on her own but you do start to begin to wonder about that. It seems that so far, only DBC has managed that.

I am glad we didn't bother to head out for the return run. We were too busy building my parents summer house anyway but we were nearly tempted this evening.
Perhaps the diesel shoving on the return run is the strategy WCRC have for not wearing her out!

She coasted through Iver this evening on the up fast, appeared to be doing a fair lick & the box seemed to be doing nothing.

I'd originally gone to Langley to see her, but the normals were out in force & growing in number - never mind the mess that is being put up for the knitting, so we made a snap decision & legged it to Iver - made it with 5 to spare as she was gaining time, again the normals were out in force - bet they were well pleased when she appeared on the fast as they were expecting her on the relief & not even a whistle as she coasted through.

Felt sorry for one guy a Langley though - he went out to see her this morning, but a friend of his who works for GWR emailed him to say it was off the blocks at Padd's at 09:38..............................

Blimey. Dave'll be pleased to see your effort - he thought he'd cocked it right up, but yours is, well, even worse!

At least I didn't have the same problem as the two of you with a stills camera. ;) just about managed to get a half decent shot over the damn suicide barrier - I think! :D

Any road, was good to see you again. :)

A serious question for the video brigade. Why do you favour stations for filming locations? You are almost guaranteed to have people in shot and modern infrastructure to spoil the timeless atmosphere I try to achieve with still photography. This is not trying to denigrate your efforts just curious.
