Would have been fantastic if the exhaust had not dipped over the 7th window of the second carriage. Fix that next time will you please. ;)

From this afternoon's SLS Library visit the bonus, Flying Scotsman passing close by the site in Addlestone just before the 1pm opening. Sorry the picture is a bit bland, I was surprised how rural that track section looks for the middle of an urban area. Unfortunately crew opened up the exhaust just the other side of the bridge! Viewing - maybe 10. The 47, couldn't hear it.

Hey up James, there's something wrong with that picture...those trees, fields and hedgerows...well they are the wrong type of green!

    Cracking shot sir.

I think people at the Bluebell have said she's banned from the East Grinstead line whereas neither Bulleids nor Tornado are. Although that comes third hand at best.

60009 has done the Surrey Hills in her time, was there any problem with her?

Just seen it at West Byfleet, went with Wife, friends and neighbours. No camera so an "evening off" so to speak. Small crowd about 25 there, spoke to some people who saw it there at lunchtime, and they said it went through a little faster tonight.

An impressive turnout at Worplesdon tonight. The Station footbridge was full and there were a lot of spectators on the Platforms too.
Scotsmans appearance nearly turned into a photographic disaster though. RTT showed that she had been running early but the law of sod came into play. Having passed through Woking she was now coming up as running late on RTT. We were getting worried about the 21.44 stopper from Portsmouth coming the other way.
But then some hope as on this peaceful May evening the distinct beat of a Gresley Pacific could be heard in the distance. She was really getting into her stride......but then silence as she was shut off. Then, a light in the distance as she coasted towards the station. She was down to walking pace. Great for photos but....... Oh bugger! Here comes the stopper from Portsmouth. People who were further up the platform now come charging up to me and my father who is behind me. The stopper passes us and Scotsman's regulator is cracked open so that she accelerates in some style past us and away into the night. What an awesome sound. She sounded bloody good! No assistance from the diesel either.
I will upload my video tomorrow night for the excellent Soundtrack. I am still smiling now.

Interesting to see that even 12 years ago there was a diesel on the back, wonder if it attracted as much criticism then as it does nowadays.:)

I note the way a member of the support crew and a steward get to hang from a window but no one else can!
