Had a tweet from SD today to say that 45699 was failed last night with a problem with her "washout hole door" At least they told me so that I wouldn't turn up at Victoria tomorrow morning.

I spent much of yesterday wishing Her Majesty had been born a day earlier. It was a thoroughly beautiful day in the SE and the forecast correctly said today was going to be cloudy. Oh well, it's pretty academic now.

Having said that, one cannot but feel sorry for Marcus and his team. It has been a rotten start to the year for SD with the WCRC suspension. Running a train to mark today's special event was a very imaginative idea, but not only has the while 6201 programme had to be shredded, but the substitute has sadly proved unavailable.

Probably not the thread for it, but what are the delays with 6201? She was in steam and looked fairly complete at the Tyseley open day last year http://www.6201.co.uk/TyseleyJune2015.htm

Edit due to being an idiot! I also should possibly read a little further before I post http://www.6201.co.uk/Report160316.htm

It was passing by my door, and on the route to the Krispy Kreme donut cabinet in Tesco, so I thought - why not. Didn't bother with a tripod or external mike, just rocked up and shot it.

Lot of empty seats and some very miserable looking peeps.

The coaching stock looks pretty pristine (externally), but what a filthy couple of oil cans at either end!
Enough to make you choke on your donuts!

The additional layer of paint has made it out of gauge.

This time last week I was contemplating getting two tickets last minute, but then I thought hang on, careful ere.
By Monday I was planning my week to get a day out watching it in several places instead.
Last night I figured I'd not bother and watch it come past my place.
Then I saw your video and decided I would have a nap instead I am quite a bit better off in my pocket going into the weekend.

More or less the same here. SD were very honest about the loco status and suggested hanging on till Tues. Gave it a miss which was a shame as we don't get many steam hauled starting from our local station.
Our cat comes in at night, too many ghouls around the river at the bottom of the garden. Strange noises abound....

The Get Surrey website has a live blog about these excursions. There is a video compilation of the lunch trip on the website. WCRC were still trying to give the impression that the trip was steam hauled when you see the clips of the Class 47 accelerating through Woking and away from Shalford. More smoke than the Jubilee would have produced.
The train itself looked very empty.
