The roof panels have been fitted to the east side of the first five bays of the new shed. Each bay has a clear panel in the centre. The shed has also been extended one bay south of the paintshop and marks the point where the higher roof above the jacks is lowered to the same level as the rest of the shed. Another five bays are yet to be erected to the south.

In order to catch up a bit, a couple of the contractors were on site today and fitted the roof panels to 6 bays on the east side of the new shed. The new roof now covers the pit.

Quick note that the goods train is due another outing this Saturday.

Timetable is the same as this timetable from last time out, except that the light engine move from SP to HK at the beginning of the day is at 09:00, not 08:45 - after that the same times apply. Don't know what the motive power will be.

A few more pictures from today of the Elephant Van showing Chris and Guy fitting the first pair of new side doors and a final one showing the next pair of doors which are being constructed by Chris

I'm wondering whether any kind Bluebell insider can give an indication of loco plans this weekend? Unexpectedly free...
    Thanks!

Keep an eye on this page of the .com site http://www.bluebell-railway.com/timetable-and-fares/engine-roster/ which currently shows up to Friday, it is somtimes more up to date that the .co.uk site.
The Q is due to have its annual boiler exam in Mid-April and then have its tyres turned.

Currently not a lot of choice, so I think highly likely to be 30541 on the A (vintage) set; 73082 on the B set, with B473 covering any lunchtime dining trains and 323 or Baxter on the pilot duty if required.

It's also the new format Shareholder Weekend, so hopefully we will get further updates on the big projects being undertaken.

    Regards,

Paid my first visit to the Bluebell on Saturday on a long awayday from Liverpool. I don't think I've ever seen a tidier lineside on any line and what a pleasure it is to have such wonderful views of the countryside instead of travelling through a green corridor. A real credit to all involved. A longer visit is called for next time.

Thank you acw71000; as a volunteer in one of the gangs which tries to keep the Bluebell lineside vegetation under control, it is great to see our efforts appreciated. If anyone travelling on the Bluebell on a Tuesday or Wednesday sees a group of orange high-viz clad figures standing around a bonfire or leaning on a rake, do give us a wave.

Certainly much appreciated from the footplate! Subjectively, my impression is that the linesides are as tidy now as I can remember in my time volunteering.

Tom: Is your webmaster for the main Bluebell website unwell, or on an extended holiday? Last update 18th March.

When a group of us from the Bluebell loco dept visited the kwvr a couple of years ago one of the volunteers shouted out to his mate, "watch out, the Bluebell are here, did anyone remember to cut the grass"

A compliment to our lineside team indeed!
