I bet you a few quid, that Tornado will not be flagging on its latter stages of today's tour to Exeter and back to London. As long as the coal is of reasonable quality and the crew are up to it, then I am sure Tornado will stay the course!

Agreed. It is a balance between what a customer expects and is prepared to pay. The MIdday Scot rather set a bar for others to follow (save for the poor coal).

A load commensurate with the power of the loco. Diesel support on a light path behind, not attached dead or otherwise to the train. There was potential for more steam but timings would have been drastically altered with a late arrival back.

Most pax on tours are in Premier and First so it would seem that price is not an issue. Adding the extra cost to a tour and spreading over several hundred paying customers will not kill the industry. And look at the eye watering prices paid to ride behind the Show Pony on it's "inaugural run" after holding up other restorations.

    Dunno what happened at Shrewsbury?

Was 10 minutes late through Yorton:

Holding the same as it passed the back of Sentinel Works.

...yet realtime trains showed it arrived in Shrewsbury 44 minutes late?!!
It was then delayed further trundling around the triangle before leaving about an hour late.

Sounded in fine form storming up to Leaton though:

I was thinking more along the lines of giving up eating the grapes - they must be hellishly sour. It amounts to pretty much the same thing.

Despite the late running it was another top performance from Galatea over the Welsh Borders, with the highlight being the barnstorming climb towards Ruabon, which could be heard for a few miles. Hope you enjoy.

It was Ray Poole driving with Ray Churchill TI from Crewe to Chester, Gordon brought the loco down to Crewe from Carnforth , the delay was due to no one was available at Shrewsbury to operate the points, they had to get passengers off the train and turn.

Thanks for the details. I'm not sure you could get a more experienced footplate crew than the two Ray's ! The run up too Ruabon from Dee Viaduct certainly sounded Hodgson like !

I thought at least the first one was 4K, I've just bought the VXF 990 and I've not decided whether to get rid of my x920 or 900 (maybe both). The quality is superb from all three of your cameras, it's hard to tell the difference - you and your team certainly know your stuff, I was going to let Louise use one of mine but she'll only chop the wheels off....

At the moment I can't upload in 4K because of the toll in takes on my computer. It would take all night & day to render at 4k and then upload. Even without the 4K resolution, the HD image is a significant step up on the X920, which is a remarkable camera. You're a brave man, if you let the other half loose with the other camera ;)

I'd definitely be a brave man if it was a once in a lifetime shot !:(
I've only tested it in the garden, but I can see straight away the difference from the other two in HD. I bought that model in preference to the new Sony AX53 because of the editing you can do in camera (stabilization, zoom and tracking which I hope will be useful for wildlife), so I hope that I'll only need to join clips in HD for now - won't be getting a 4K TV anytime soon.
