Just a quick update, and an unusual view!

Pannier tank 1638 is nearing completion, and is expected to be in action early this season. To the right of shot, USA tank "Wainwright" is still being rebuilt, while the inverted boiler for no.25 "Northiam" receives attention to the foundation ring. The frames and motion of 25 are already overhauled, ready to receive the boiler.

1638 has now returned to traffic, with little fanfare. Saw her on Friday, looking great in the spring sunshine. She retains the BR black livery into which she was repainted at the end of her prvious period of operation

Good news, lovely locomotive. Is 6619 next for overhaul?

Saw her earlier this month but didn't realise she was so close to being back in service. Can't wait to visit again and experience 1638 in action

1638 will be out on trains again this weekend and next week. I suspect it will be a regular performer this year!
