So glad Alan Pegler was represented on this trip. Without him there would have been no A3 for us to enjoy over the years. I can honestly say that 4472 set me on the road to getting involved in railway preservation so I've a lot to thank Alan for.

He was happy for me to put them on Flickr, so I have. There are three shots of 60103 plus one shot of 91101. This is the first one in the Photostream :

For anyone not familiar with the workings of Flickr, clicking on the small picture will enlarge it and you can then click on the arrow to the right to move on to the next one.

Hope you find them of interest.

I'm not surprised considering how busy it was. The York Tap went from quiet to very busy in 15 mins once FS finally arrived.

I once got reprimanded for allowing one foot to stray half an inch over the yellow line...

    Nice picture, nevertheless.

Having a peek at wnxx then???? I suppose the guy who took it thinks he's been very clever, sneaking round with his camera fly on the wall style.... then ending with a deliberately poor shot of FS passing...
If he's trying to show steam enthusiasts as odd, what about that classic diesel crank lying on his back on a platform with his arms and legs waving like a dying fly....

I am sure you have heard of Zontar, and his adventures, this is done by the same bloke, and is probably a bit tongue in cheek!!!

As a sociological study of those who like trains I thought that it was quite funny. The man was only filming what was taking place in public. If people weren't "odd" they wouldn't look odd in the video. I can guess the hobbies of the guy in the purple shirt!;)

I don't think any one of us can dispute the adverse comments made about the trainspotting fraternity, be it steam or diesel enthusisasts. I will always remember taking my wife to see a mainline tour at Taunton station back in the 90's and her first comment was not about the train but about the enthusiasts. She said, "Nick, they all look very odd". Being a very good looking bloke myself, I was excluded from those comments! Be it on a tour, or just standing on Clapham Junction or Crewe taking down numbers "we" are perceived as an odd bunch of blokes who are unlikely to be found at an Adelle concert or a Premiership match on a Saturday. Fact of the matter, not many of us are bothered with the critics. This was me in 1997. I think my wife was right after all. Ha ha!

I would think myself odd if I was found at an Adele concert, last one I went to was Springsteen not odd at all. I was questioned on my "unusual" pastime by one of my neighbours when I said I'd been chasing around Cumbria photting the Duchess. My answer was a question " what did you do on Saturday?" " the usual stuff took the wife shopping got the groceries from Tesco". No further comment necessary.

My "odd" pastime has taken me to all corners of the UK, several other European countries as well as the Americas, Asia and Africa. The Saturday shopping seldom gets you out of your home county. 'Nuff said.
