Big brother "Gricer Don" is on board timing it for his HR monthly article. Last I heard was checks yes, quite a few I think. Maybe deliberate to allow the assembled masses a good view? Who knows, but if other schedules allow that it would be good.

56 mph max last time I heard. Actually 55.8mph, but I just jolted Don's GPS a bit! LOL.

BTW. Did I spot Michal Portillo in a green jacket being interviewed in front of the loco at The Cross? I thing his railway programmes are superb and I also think he is a great presenter. Hope he is doing one on FS.

Gricer Don reports mid 60s at Langley. Reckon he will work flat out to get the full log and other related staff in the next available issue of Heritage Railway.

Don't give us too many details... It will spoil the read when HR arrives....

I assume that is the train backing in?

For once I accept a steam loco looking superbly clean. I much prefer them looking filthy dirty, when you can get that, but an event like this needs a spotless loco. And that is what we have today.

Looked superb passing through Hitchin this morning, must've been about 300 people on the station for it. Lots of updates from the station staff on the train's progress as well.

OK, only very brief mentions. I certainly want Heritage Railway readers to get the most out of this. I imagine they will have one or two photos to publish too! Be nice if Gricer Don grabbed a few at KX, but I suspect he was too busy getting ready to time it to his usual very high standard. Something that goes back to the early 1960s.

Nothing obviously in front through New Barnet etc, observed with Mk1s eyeballs supported by OTT signalling maps.

Timing the arrival at Holme so they don't have to stop for long for the FL path behind 1N08?

Some very good running, but it seems possible mass trespass around St Neots may have caused a problem. Train now at a stand. Don't know if the two events are related.

Oh yes, Micheal Portillo with green jacket now being interviewed from on board the train.

Just out of interest, who has supplied the coaching stock? Presumably not from WCRC?

And is it a Mk 1 rake?

Looks like she lost more than 10 minutes near St Neots - hope it is not a hot bearing.

Someone has suggested that it's the A1 Trust's support coach in use today?

Cloudless blue skies making even the bleakest northern hellholes* look presentable (yes, I'm in Doncaster), so should make for some nice photos.
