NYMR vantage points

    So having decided to visit NYMR as a priority (April probably) in my Classic Camper, can anyone give me guidance on vantage points (it's a lot of railway to check out on spec!).

    Somewhere with overnight (wild) parking would be ideal, but probably a bit ambitious

    Try Moorgates, your can park just off road and look down on the line from the original tramway trackbed. Alternatively above the line at Darnholme where they are coming up the 1in 49.

    While your up there don't forget to visit the pub in Beckhole which doubles up as the village store, a real gem.

    Google maps isn't very cear, I think I can find Darnholme but it offers no clue s to where Moorgates is

    No I do not currently volunteer
    I would recommend watching a train slogging up the final stage of the bank from the north end of Goathland station
