The Royal Oak opposite Haworth station has been damaged by flooding too.

Rammsbottom station was/is also slightly submerged. The running line is just Bury to Heywood at the moment and several towns along the line have seen the river Irwell reach record levels

    So back on topic....

The pub in summerseat was pretty much no more in the process of demolition.
Remains of it were just the other side of the railway viaduct and in the trees.

Gone to history, don't reckon it'll be replaced.

    regards
the bloke in the tunnel there seems to be some very high horses up there !!
more important is the damage to the river bank at townsend fold at least thirty foot of the bank has gone including the foot path leaving the river now just ten foot from the line
any more bad weather and loss of bank will surely close the line
    regards

A bank can be repaired, the life of someone hit by a train and the knock on effect to the crew is something that cannot just be rebuilt.

Several people were killed or injured due to AWS isolated/not working at Southall. Different system, but the potential consequences of similar action on TPWS are all too clear.

Not disagreeing with your post, mind.

If this is aimed at me, you're way off target, for starters i used to ride big engined motorbikes, way off the richter scale when it comes to "cotton wool linen safety conscious world". As to Big Brother??? not sure where that fits, it's on TV as well is it, I didn't know that.
