Can't confirm but apparently 5043 is currently on a test run and is sat in the platform at Stratford at the moment, will pop out and have a look...

..and apart from the high intensity light on the loco, almost timeless. Lovely.

34067 Tangmere is at Hellifield 1330 Thurs on test run from Carnforth. Will go straight back, not via Backburn and Preston.

Good news! Thanks for the post. In less than 48 hours, she is due to be hauling the RTC Three Bridges-Bath special. Looks like things have really gone to the wire, but hopefully no nasty surprises from the test run.

I really hope that 2016 goes well for Tangmere fingers crossed. A good period of trouble free running is whats needed.

Don't we all! Poor Tangmere has developed a bit of a bad reputation recently but when it's in good form, an original Bulleid is always a thrilling sight to behold and furthermore, 34067 has delivered some first-rate performances. A 2007 run along the Basingstoke-Woking "racing stretch" at a pretty good lick as the sun was setting will stick in my memory for some time.

I think we can assume so as it was only Hellifield and return and not the full circuit, which is of course the loaded route.

Also been informed that 6233 and 5043 are cleared to work this week end.

I'm inclined to agree but sadly the people who might have helped at Eastleigh are not there any more.

Has there ever been clarification of exactly what was wrong with Tangmere to cause its temporary withdrawal from service? I seem to remember posts on here along the lines of "It's broken". "No, it's fine". "Oh no it isn't". "Oh yes it is".
