Galatea went belting through keighley Friday morning. Lucky to just have arrived as it went past.
Superb weekend, a gem of a railway. Standing on Howarth station Saturday night and the 4f on two coaches arriving and departing with the last train was like being in a time warp. Congratulations for the efforts of all the worth valley staff.

30777 perhaps? 61994 visited a couple of years ago. Could there in fact now be a general gauge height restriction to get onto the branch?

But not onto worth valley metals, which is the issue in question.

Thanks and emphasises the point that nowt as tall has come in since hence the gauge problem. Corporate memory loss at NR an issue too, no doubt.

I was being sarcastic. I seem to be the only linesider who likes the thing. There's nothing unauthentic about it in that livery. It's as authentic as 90733 pulling pullmans! It's a piece of British railway history and a very well-preserved example! Just look at my profile picture!

A brilliant day out yesterday. Started with the photo charter in the morning, which was very enjoyable and very impressed with amount of run pasts and locations in such a limited amount of time, and the WD looked amazing (we even got a bit of sun). Had an enjoyable rest of the day riding and video-ing. Got to agree about Big Jim, a great loco and makes a lovely noise.

Height issue is actually on the UP side, nothing do do with KWVR side.

Data is out of date from Network Rail, we all know it would fit.

Thanks to everyone who supported the event. Attendance was 30% down which sadly will affect future events.

Thanks for putting it on (three times over) and as sad and disheartening as it is, you must have had a feeling that it wouldn't be the busiest of galas - just out of interest - how did it compare to the Galas of 2000 / 2001 / 2002?

But before you answer that, to you and the rest of the KWVR, congratulations of making the most out of what you have to offer - a very clever skill that can sometimes be over looked.

At the risk of seeming very mercenary, how does that loss of income look when there were no haulage and hire costs for guest locos incurred either?

Nothing like as bad, would be my guess (and, knowing your Chairman is of the same profession as I, I suspect he will look at it that way too!)

Are we heading to an era of cheaper, less risky but admittedly less busy Gala events except for a few exceptions (which would presumably then benefit from being more out of the ordinary?)

    Steven

Which makes the ban even more absurd if locos of a similar height have used the up line lately. Barmey!
Was it a similar problem preventing a rail move for Wells?

    Just Posted Part 2

With the number of issue we had with this years Autumn gala it was not a surprise numbers were down, which is a pity as you will see from the first two parts already up, it was one of the best gala KWVR have had, with the beer festival only a few days away now and autumn leaves in full colour I can't think of a better place to be this weekend, and that's despite the fact I don't drink.
