Spent the morning at Swanage before work today - tried some new walks in ace weather then rode back with the M7, time very well spent. As I was leaving at lunchtime, 33201 set off from Swanage light engine. Any of the informative Swanage people on here know what it was up to? (if the DMU had broken and it was off to rescue it, then I'm definitely ruing having to head to work now... If it was just some test run or engineering job then I'm more chilled). Thanks in advance, always like to have that sort of info when captioning pictures.

33201 was going up to Corfe to shunt some carriages ready for a charter on Saturday.

Blocks of 5 to 7 days at a time during July and August.
Which will be advertised in advance.

    Plus October Steam Gala.

Weather permitting, I'm planning to spend a day in Swanage this weekend. Any info about locos would be received as gratefully as ever!

This weekend is likely to be 31806 on the service train, with 34070 on the lunch train on Sunday. 34070 will then continue into next week, as 31806 will be due for washout.

Afraid so (I know you like your 33's!); the DMU is also out Friday and Saturday nights in connection with the Swanage Jazz Festival.

You're not wrong there, but my late father drove dmus before his premature death, so I have really happy memories of them. Plus they do offer great panoramic views! Thanks again for the detailed information.

Bit of a change of plan; 34070 will go into traffic tomorrow, a bit earlier than originally planned.

Is that because 31806 started a lineside fire today I wonder? I heard from a SD steward who visited today that the services on the line were delayed due to a lineside fire and passengers from the SD charter only got back to Bournemouth with 2 minutes to spare to catch the return run.

    Yes!
31806's pyromaniac tendencies have not altered since it left MHR. It was due to be stopped for washout exam and other work on Sunday anyway.
Should have ashpan spray fitted too

Shall be visiting Wednesday & Thursday this coming week, any info regarding the Loco planned to be in traffic is much appreciated. Any chance of the Loco smoke box facing into Swanage?

Might be some amendments to the scheduled Green timetable on Thursday 16th to accommodate Railway Touring Company's "The Swanage Belle" tour scheduled to be hauled by 61036 "Mayflower" on it's first visit to Swanage. Likely arrival in Swanage around 14:00 and departure just after 17:00 I guess.

I'm heading to the seaside once more this Saturday to have a look & listen at the Class 50 visitors. Usual question, wondering what will be out? One steam and one diesel I believe? Hoping for a 33! Many thanks as ever.
