Correct. I don't think anybody's expecting to see much of Mayflower - but with the gala coming up perhaps that's set to change?

Would be nice if it was advertised when the Y14 is planned to run. I haven't seen her yet and would definitely make the 2hr trip providing I knew she was running. I'm sure many others are the same.

Thanks for the interest, I'm sure efforts will be made to make the community aware when the Y14 is in service, as there are many who are eager to see her in action. Understandably, not much has been said of late because the Y14 hasn't operated any public trains solo. Work is currently ongoing on the cylinders (the loco certainly hasn't been left fallow) with a conclusion to the work hoped for as soon as possible. There has also been a broken Black 5, B12 and 9F to compound the current situation.

The Y14 was in steam today and operated a last-minute private charter with the 4-wheel Wisbech and Upwell coach. I didn't have time to ask but it looked like a fairly successful run, so fingers crossed the loco will be in a position to appear on some public trains at some point...

Elsewhere in the steam fleet, repairs to Black 5 45337 and Black Prince are now completed so join Standard 4 76084 in the operational pool of locos which has thankfully grown just in time for the summer season 2x steam timetable which started yesterday.

Any news on the long term plan for Mayflower? Will she be based on the NNR for much longer?

The Y14 now has its first public running days since the recent repairs where the railway are advertising the engine specifically (subject to it not failing of course). It is running three round trips with the Vintage train on August 4th and 11th. Ordinary fares plus a £1 supplement for the vintage train. With two other steam locos on the ordinary sets during the day, plus a diesel in the early evening, these days should prove good value for money for the enthusiast...

I notice the Quad-Arts are also forming an extra service Saturdays behind a diesel loco. Will the vintage train get the chance to run at weekends?

I wonder if anyone could help with a query. Did the NNR ever make an offer to restore the NRM J17? I have very vague memories about reading this online a few years back, or have I just got this confused with the ex-Beamish J21 that was on the NNR for a short time?

    Thanks

Strange there's no mention of 44767 either.
