I was fairly sure you were just being silly, and I returned likewise! as for "dipping your brush" well, I maturely chose to ignore it, or maybe think the best of you, clearly a mistake! :p If you're line siding, fair enough, I prefer to be sat down in a heated carriage during a winter gala, but hey ho, I'll give a wave to all the line siders and hope one of them is you! ( they'll think "well it's a day off for someone") :D

Both me and LocoYard Dave will be at the gala on Friday now... changed our plans to see you as well ;-) You will find that in every department of the Mid Hants there is at least one Dave or at least a token Dave.

Presumably "token Dave" is part of the S&T?

That was a silly thing to do, I hope you haven't set anything in stone. I've just double checked and the old date was during half term but the new one isn't. :( Pulling a sickie isn't entirely ruled out, as last day of term etc. but whilst Dad might not mind I suspect Mum might have other ideas. Not wishing to mess you around, but I did say that Friday would be my first choice if the dates were ok... Oops...

That's all right then! I expect we'll decide a bit closer to the time, depending on how stuff pans out, but I'd prefer the Saturday for the simple reason I said earlier - less time for things to break! Is the timetable any less or more busy on any of the days, as the SVR's is sometimes less busy on the sunday?

Oi, who are you calling a "token" Dave?........ depending on the number of Dave's assembled at a point lineside, anybody who isn't called Dave automatically gets called Dave, makes life easier........

Timetable is normally the same on the three days, the weekend tends to be
Friday: Mostly photographers (trains are quieter so less people in windows etc)
Saturday: Busiest day so most people ride trains on a Saturday
Sunday: Again tends to be more photography with less public transport etc avaiable to the punters

I would assume that the diagrams are the same each day, barring loco rosters....... unlike the SVR, where trying to be adventurous at a gala invariably leads to the TT slipping out of control for no obvious reason......

Everyone at MHR seems to be called dave, at ropley we had dave sibly, Dave pallet , who we called daisy, and others who i cant recall, for sheer noise, you cant beat the alps, ok in my time, i vey seldom got to enjoy it, i was too busy filling a white hot hole, the firebox, with shovel in hand, before some of you start ;) hi light for me, too many to say, butt most likily its the realisation, after several good trips, with just my driver and i, that yes i can do this, and do it well. apart from one trip when i messed it right up,

If you're planning on using SWT to attend the MH Spring Gala, be aware that there are engineering works on Sunday 15th Feb.
    http://www.southwesttrains.co.uk/engineeringwork.aspx?date=15/02/2015&accept=perm
Looks like it adds about 25 minutes to the journey from Clapham Junction with the first stop being Staines, avoiding the line through Wimbledon and picking up the usual route at Byfleet. Friday & Saturday do not show as being affected.

Pictures of Britannia's repaired driving wheel (at Rileys works) seem to mean that we should see the engine being put back together in January ready for testing before the Gala:)
