Are there any non-stop runs thru BL at a gala? Can image a speed run thru a station would be a great thing to witness from a platform, even more being in a signal box.

Most galas have non-stop runs through BL, but timetables for the next gala have not been finalised yet. You won't get a 'speed' run through BL as tokens have to be exchanged, and drivers have to be cautious of the foot crossing at the MD end and members of the public getting too close to the edge of the platform to get their photos, so mostly they pass through at about 10 mph.

I spent a week in a tent next to the Harmans Cross Down Distant a couple of years back; for most of the week it was off with the box switched out, of course.

The SVR has plenty of worked distants: both at Arley, both at Hampton Loade, and two out of three at each of Bewdley North and Bewdley South. Kidderminster, Bridgnorth and Highley only have fixed distants.

Have happy memories of supremely good steak and kidney pie there. Splendid, atmospheric, place where you expect to see a "Brief Encounter" scenario going on.

I have now had time to look in detail at the planning files for the CH Goods Shed. Here are the links.

The links failed. See post #3116 for details.

Clearly the intent was to match the roof pitch to the existing station building. Having considered it at length I was clearly wrong to oppose the correction and I have apologized to Robin White for castigating her on the subject.

apart from the roof pitch of country goods sheds , which for a few degrees is taking pedantry too far, I entirely agree with you!

we used to do a runpast at the ,I think , S & D gala in the 90s ,& start from down towarda NF & run through BL as fast as we like. That is until we pulled our up train to uncouple opposite the BL 'shed' with I think 'Wadebridge' or another Bullied, & I couldnt get the link out of the hook on the carrage , In the end there was half a dozen people trying, we obviously did , but it yook some mineuets.

Looking for bedtime reading, I followed all four links, only to be told:

    Document Unavailable
This document is unavailable for viewing at this time.

Has the interest been so great that the server has crashed, or is it just my maladjusted System 10 which thinks I should quit and retire?

Can't say, but I have just logged onto the WSDC website and looked up planning and Crowcombe station and the documents are all available.

I pasted those from the downloads I made. I think the problem is to do with the way the WSDC handles direct links. This link does work!

    https://www.westsomerset.gov.uk/onl....do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=_WSC_DCAPR_22836

You can then select the individual documents.

I must say that I am grateful for the publicity. Do enjoy my Chambers' profile, and, for those who have not seen it, the you-tube video about my 'trans' journey.

I am happy to confirm that I am not now, nor have I ever been a Freemason.... I have, however. been a WSRA member for a long, long time!:)

The omissions from the list are more interesting.

It’s not often that I comment on personal issues but will here if you don’t mind. Thanks for the heads up on the link to YouTube on the ‘history’ site for you, I found it informative, positive and I learned a few things I didn’t know previously.

Clearly you show the same strength and focus on this subject as you do with both the WSR, (which is of course well documented) and with the local community (not so well know) as my wife (Julie, Head Teacher of Stogumber & Crowcombe Primary Schools) reports to me that (again) you are working behind the scenes helping to forge closer relationships between the schools and the WSR. This is in my view a much needed positive step forward as a small part of the future of the WSR.

Clearly this is yet another example of standing up, being counted and doing something positive for a cause you believe in so all power to you.

A cynical person may say that the link to such a YouTube clip was provided by an inward viewing, negative person with only destructive thoughts on their mind who are only capable of playing the player not the ball, just an opinion you understand ! This is only made worse by the fact that the 4160ltd website at the top of its home page provides a link to the History site in large red wording that is not only a clear endorsement of the History sites contents by them but can only be taken as the views are supported by ALL 4160 Trustees (please any of the involved come on here or to me directly and deny this if you think I’m wrong as I’m happy to stand corrected).

This unfortunately will only ever be destructive and could damage the future of 4160, as who would ever want to be involved with a group of people who will turn round and try and bite the people that they should be working with to find a positive way forward for the future of 4160 ? Personally in my own opinion I can only see it becoming less and less likely that this great engine will ever be able to come back to the WSR and maybe it could struggle to find another home if that’s the way the owners do business, and that is sad for all concerned.

Still enough of this emotional, personal feelings and positive/negative stuff, let’s get back to the facts. About these shares…………………….
