Anyone know what No 9 is doing when she comes off this trip at Ely? Next booked turn is Saturday 14th from KX - so is she going to head down to London through Cambridge while the tour is diesel hauled back to Norwich?

Just trying to see if I can catch both the Black Fives and No 9 at Cambridge without having to trundle across to Ely...

You would have thought light to Southall would be the logical move, but since when has mainline steam and logic gone together, doesn't appears to be a light engine path in RTT yet for Thursday night or Friday so presumably a STP path will pop up nearer the time.

60009 will be returning to Southall via Cambridge and Hitchin that evening ready for Saturday's trip, and then the 21st Of December when it does London Victoria to York.

The return times have been revised. No 9 now comes off at Peterborough and returns direct to Southall. www.uksteam.info/tours/t13/t1212a.htm

Thanks for the replies - I guess that means it's just the Riley 5s for me tomorrow then...

Are the times right? According to the timetable the returning train gets to Peterborough Eastfield Yard at 20:37, 60009 is detached and then the train waits until 21:47 when it departs, behind a diesel for a 4 minute trip to Peterborough Station. Very frustrating for passengers especially those leaving the train at Peterborough. The train eventually gets back to Norwich at 23:59.
Meanwhile 60009 leaves Eastfield at 22:17 arriving at Connington up loop at 22:32 staying there for 17 minutes (Maybe for water?) getting back to Southall at 01:08, then it will be disposed of. Some people have very long days indeed.

Filmed at Whittlesea, with good views of the manual gates and Semaphore signals at work
