Given the continuing negativity on the 'other' thread, I thought I'd make a rare post to praise the WSR in operational excellence at the end of last week.
I had hired the Hawksworth Saloon for the day last Friday for the family to share in celebrating my 70th birthday. The day went smoothly from beginning to end with paid and volunteer staff working happily alongside each other. All the family (many of whom had travelled long distances to attend) were full of praise for the organisation as well as the location. The bonus was an unexpected double-headed steam working back to BL on the 14.20 ex MD - lively to say the least and a few drinks glasses became casualties. Well done all concerned - proud to be part of the 'family'.

You were one of the 9 we had on for the down that morning. You'll be pleased to know the Hall took it all in her stride. We were on the Welsh on the down but we had the Scottish for the up but only six on. Glad to hear we didn't spill your drinks, particularly as we slipped a couple of times on the way to Crowcombe.

Good question. According to the website Saturday 15th is a Brown timetable day and Sunday 16th is a Green timetable day.
Neither timetable mentions the Military train that the website's Special Events page says is running between MD & BL and back each day.
Hopefully all will be sorted out and revealed before the event and WTTs will be available for download and at the stations on the day.

Don't hold your breath waiting for timetables, pure fiction if the rest of the advertising is anything to go by. The leaflet contradicts the official website regarding the Spitfire and the RAF display let alone anything else. Going to be a few disgruntled punters around .....

I'd noticed the disappearance of the Spitfire from the list of attractions on the website. I'm intending to come anyway, but I'm a bit puzzled about the whole event. It's being promoted as a "Special Event" with an intensive timetable and Military train running, but unlike the Late Summer Weekend and ASG the website's timetable page shows it as a normal timetable not a Special Event. So it will be interesting to see what the event is actually like.

It is still on their web under attractions at Bishops Lydeard (bottom of the page), but on the leaflet they are at Minehead

Over on the book of faces, it has been announced that there will also be a Hurricane at Bishops Lydeard.

There are three, two of which are double-ended. The blue and black levers are electric motored cross-overs.

I see your S&T have resisted the temptation to shorten handles. Many a historic frame has been needlessly spoiled by over-zealousness in that area.
