    Nice.

Another clip of 'Foxey' working hard in poor weather:

Never mind the Driver, who was the person holding the shovel who made the hard work possible?

If you are going to start that sort of discussion, then I think you should also consider absolutely everyone who has been involved in the manufacture and upkeep of the loco in its entire existance.
Then beyond that the work of all involved on the railway in providing stock for it to pull, Signalling to control it and the PW for the track it runs on.

  5. I think the diesel is accompanying for the whole journey, although Clan Line is now booked to work the next day's Torbay Express without a diesel, so perhaps fire risk is no longer considered to be an issue by NR in the South West.

For the record: when I posted re 7822 and the nine coach train ( posting 13776) I was very aware of both the driver
and the fireman's names. I have known both for some years. However I would not state their names on a publicly viewable website without their prior knowledge.

I agree with the tenet of 'Ploughman's' posting ie the Railway runs because of the enthusiasms and energy of many.
Together we are hopefully a Railway that people wish to visit or volunteer to work on.

No names, no pack-drill, as John Slater used to say as editor of the Talyllyn News. Which was a pretty good maxim in his position as it was inevitable that someone would be missed out.

The USATC loco went on to be owned by MAV.

On 17th December 2016 she hauled a Cathedrals Express from London Victoria to Bishops Lydeard, where 6960 Raveningham Hall took over to take the train to Minehead. I think that was the last time she ran on WSR metals.

Could not agree more. Sadly, true professionals chase fulfilling careers. Volunteering on boards is a nice thing to do when time permits, and time is something in short supply.
