vintage trains have several new tours on there website, the highlight for me is the scot over shap with 46115 and the castle over shap with 5043. both these tours are £69 standard return.

I think 46115 will be getting my booking now im unable to do 60007, im hoping 5043 will go to Padd in a future tour programme sometime.

5043 over Shap should be a change from previous GWR runs up north as VT are not into the habit of loading trains to the loco's limit.

Edit: is there anything to read into the fact 4953 hasn't featured on a tour in ages ?.

£69 return from Preston Only on the 9th of May and Crewe Only on the 20th June

Passengers from further south (and Crewe on the May trip???) have to pay £10 extra...

Looking back last month at the Fotopic set up for 4953 by its support crew, it said they were fustrated that its not being running anywhere at the moment, suppose it comes down to what the owner wants.

Excellent news. Looking at their website, however, I am more intrigued by a photograph of the Castle working on a mystery line, somewhere in the Lake District it would seem...

    http://www.vintagetrains.co.uk/images/shap_5043.jpg

Certainly looks to be coming out of some sort of tunnel too. How could us enthusiasts have missed this run and not know about this mystery Lakeland railway?? Whoever got that shot knows their stuff ;)

Also a shot of 46115 parked up somewhere in the Lakes on a small section of track presumably for some sort of secret event... we've missed out here lads :(

VT should be congratulated on a varied and interesting programme, something for everyone and some bargain fares too. And in these uncertain times it is very rare for one of their trips to be cancelled too. Castle over Shap is highlight for me, I still remember Leander's trip. Similar load and driver would be good! Best start saving.. [-o<

Yes, I’m booked for 5043 over Shap. Let’s hope it can lay the ghost of GW locos in the North! On the form it has showed so far it should be a very interesting trip. Lets hope for a well filled 10 coaches.

Interesting VT have gone for Shap before some more obvious GW hill climbing in South Wales or Devon. Maybe a case of going for it while we still can? Anyway absolutely no complaints, cracking program, well done VT I say.

From a selfish point of view, great to see two trips out of Liverpool in August. Any idea which other engine will be involved alongside 6233?

Fair point, I was looking at the rough guide to 2009 on a familiar website http://www.uksteam.info/tours/trs09.htm and the Liverpool ones are run by the Railway Touring Company.
Will still go and see 5043 at Llandudno Junction before having a look round RSPB Conwy.

Yes I'm really pleased 9600 is getting some more outings on the big railway, but what aboiut 9466?

Will 9600 rewuire a test run? I quite fancy an evening trip down the North Warwickshire line!

In theory yes, given it's had a retube and a new ticket along with it, the evening test runs regardless of the motive power can be pretty fun, esp if a high speed run back through Dorridge is involved (unlikely for a pannier though!) and are worth the hassle of a weeknight.
