New-build ‘A1’ No. 60163 Tornado is to make its journey to the Severn Valley Railway in style this autumn – with its first through railtour to the line.

The ‘Severn Valley Venturer’ on September 8 takes the Peppercorn ‘Pacific’ from London Victoria to Bridgnorth via Slough, Reading, Oxford and Banbury. With Tornado then remaining at the SVR for its first meeting with ‘A3’ No. 60103 Flying Scotsman (‘Pacific Power’, September 22-26), West Country No. 34027 Taw Valley has been requested for the return trip as far as Bewdley. From there, a diesel takes the train back to Victoria.

The tour is being promoted by the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust with bookings through UK Railtours (www.ukrailtours.com)
