That will be sight worth seeing. I bet someone on here will be able to tell us when the last time was was that three Kings were together.
And before anyone says in Bethlehem 2000 years ago.........beat you to it :)

Any budding song writers who could amend the words of "We three Kings of Orient are" to fit the new scenario?

Great news. 6000,6023,6024 all together for the first time in preservation. Nice to see 6000 get some air for the 40th anniversary of the return of mainline steam.

We three kings two green and one blue,
If you think A4s are better you don't have a clue.
London to Plymouth and now Penzance too
Locos are better from Swindon's view!

O Swindon of wonder, Swindon of light,
Swindon and its designers so bright.
No other works can even compare
It all goes to show that Great Western is Right!!! :biggrin1:

I can only get ''We three Kings of Swindon'' or ''We three Kings of Didcot'' which don't work.

Didcot sources say that the plan at the moment is to have all 3 Kings at Didcot for the 2 anniversary weekends of 10th and 11th September followed by 17th and 18th September. At this stage it is only an aspiration, but sources close to the project say they are confident that an agreement can be reached that will allow 6000 to be based at Didcot, if only for a relatively short period, before it continues its journey to Swindon. The same sources have said that preliminary informal discussions have taken place with a senior member of the NRM regarding 6000 and reported that said person was very impressed with the professionalism of Didcot Railway Centre and its staff.

It is hoped that 18000 and Iron Duke will also have arrived by then to take part in the celebrations. It has been stated that 18000 will need to be separated from its bogies in order to be transferred to Didcot Railway Centre and a military type flat wagon may need to be used for this working.

Work on Iron Duke is expected to commence relatively quickly as the aim is to always have a broad gauge locomotive at Didcot that is in ticket. In the longer term it is hoped to extend the broad gauge running line towards the public entrance.

It's interesting that the NRM don't seem to know about this ...... (see Anthony's post)

Tyseley have 5043, 7029 and 5080... They don't have 5029, although it is based there.

yes im very surprised, it would be good if 6000 can attend, but i would prefer it to remain at didcot on loan and not return to Swindon it looks better sat in a proper running shed that what has been done with Steam, which in my view was a right mess up if the old shed had been left how it was and extended over the open air lines it would have been better and cheeper

geting back to the NRM, if Antony doesnt know about it , its not a very good way to go about borrowing a loco from the collection

I know about aspirations to put the three together, and was part of the initial discussions mentioned. So I knew about an idea to do it, but not that it'd be as soon as September. I will ask some questions this week - yes it would be lovely! Many things are discussed at work and occasionally something breaks cover!
