According to the UKRT website this is now due into York at 1315. With FS due the same day I can see York

station being busy. I wonder how many people will think Tornado is FS under a secret identity.:D;)

Small correction on that - what the UK Railtours website actually says is that it will be departing (for Scarborough) at 13.15, rather than arriving at that time. This information will, of course, be relevant to those who booked only the York-Scarborough-York leg of this tour.

On this basis, it doesn't seem likely that there will be an overlap with the likely arrival time of FS. But, as you say, there would seem to be every likelihood that York station will be continuously busy for a few hours during the earlier part of Saturday afternoon, and perhaps again during the late afternoon/ early evening when Tornado gets back from Scarborough.

Meanwhile, I'm looking forward to seeing something on RTT to put some flesh on the detail of all this - hopefully very soon.

Edit......an in-inadvertent reference to an FS "approximate timing" removed

Thanks for the update. Has the return leg from Scarborough also been put back now too?

Looks like it. The original indications were "Scarborough 16.30/ York 17.30", compared with a return arrival at York at 18.10 confirmed now. All of which is consistent with the provision of what UKRT advertised as a three hour break in Scarborough.

There's a note with the tickets stating that track movement on P1 at Scarborough, the only one that can be used for long trains, has made the platform out of gauge. UKRT have been assured by Notwork Fail that they are resolving the matter this weekend. Fingers crossed... 1411 to 1712 now showing for the Scarborough layover - provided we get there.

Panic over. This has now appeared on the UK Railtours website/ Scarborough Flyer page

    IMPORTANT UPDATE:
The issues with Platform 1 at Scarborough have now been overcome. Remedial work has been completed. The tour is going ahead as planned.

Mid morning with less than 22 hours to KGX departure time and still nothing on RTT ?? Any half-way decent conspiracy theorist might conclude from this that NR's cloak of secrecy over the release of timings has now been extended to anything with an eight-wheel tender. Which would, in turn, confirm my own suspicions, biases and prejudices that the appeal of the mighty Apple Green machine has in no way been diminished by the return of the upstart "Show-Pony-with-Blinkers"; and that NR are equally alive to the risks associated with a high turn-out on both the MML and ECML as not one, but two LNER Pacifics forge their way northward through the East Midlands tomorrow morning heading for York.

Sorry, this might be just an idle muse. But it does seem a little odd that whereas previously with UKRT's steam excursions something has appeared on RTT at the point where UKRT has been able to announce "Confirmed Timings", it just hasn't happened in this instance - despite the fact that these timings were released to customers over a week ago.

As there is only one digit difference in their numbers maybe the computer thinks 60163 is a second identity for 60103 and treats it accordingly :D
It certainly seems like the secrecy cloak has been extended to Tornado this time.
Are you travelling by the way?

Same here but not doing the Scarborough bit, early start for me but should be worth it. I'm in Coach F/4F.

    Thank you, Spamcan :)

RTT is still in 'stealth mode' for this one, as well as the 'other' tour going to York ;)

Hmm, so about 09.15 through Sandy then. Or do I go across to Sharnbrook for 60103 at the same time. Bugger!

Aren't we fortunate though, in the second half of the second decade of the 21st century, to be in a position to be able to make such choices :)

Here's hoping for good days out for both tours
