The Winter Steam Gala (New Year’s Eve to Monday January 2nd) features a 130-years-old steam engine, originally built for the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway by the renowned locomotive designer William Stroudley. This diminutive but tenacious locomotive was nicknamed a “Terrier”, and carries the name Martello after the chain of forts built along the South Coast to repel Napoleon. This will be the fourth 'new' engine to steam on the NNR metals this year following on from 'Green Arrow', 'City of Truro' and the N7.

During the Gala, there will be steam trains every 45 minutes from Sheringham, from 10.30 through to 15.45 – including the three Mince Pie Specials each day.
