Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends...

Ladies & Gentlemen I give you the 2010 Foxfield Stem Gala.

Time to resrve dates, start collecting brownie points for those staying over & consider what may be on offer this year. As ever your thoughts on what may be available will be noted.

As the party mood still lingers each reply should include as many song lyric's as you can, the lyric's should relate to our gala - the winner will recieve a free pint over gala weekend in the "One legged shunter".

Lyric's will be reviewed after 12.00 Midnight on 7th Jan.

    The Song remains the same.

Happy new year to you all.

Before any of the Tanfield lot get in with the same idea, I'd like to suggest Cochrane - would sound ******* good paired with Bellerophon :D

That it might do - but it's not exactly uncommon to hear Coch being given some - surely it'd be far better to get something a bit 'rarer' instead of something thats already quite commonly 'noisy'?

Twizell would sound well nice and it would look good if the Tanfield could "Paint It Black."
Given some thrash up the bank my microphone would certainly pick up some "Good Vibrations." Possibly the best vantage point is part way up the bank, "Up Around The Bend" in fact.

Twizell will sound much better on our banks. Can't see it going on its travels for along time yet!

Ah ha, Spamcan. So you would like a "black dog" to "climb the stairway to heaven" ?. Your idea has merit but it will be "nobody's fault but mine" if your idea was "trampled underfoot" due to a "communication breakdown". would look great "In the evening" if we could get a glint shot however.

Would you consider firing the loco with "Norwegian Wood" or would that be "One Step Beyond?" I will probably bring my partner to the event as "She's Got A Ticket To Ride" and would like to be a "Day Tripper" while taking a break from being "Mother's Little Helper."

    Will a limerick do? :D

An industrial - from a colliery, gas works or dock?
    How about Tanfield's 12" Coch?
    Donington -
    Could be quite fun
Or Lady Nan - the Somerset based jock

Nothing like wishing the year away!

Can we have the all line freights again this year? There are some interesting photos away from the bank and last year was spoilt by the weather. Also some mild in the bar would be nice!

The great thing about the Foxfield gala is the rare opportunity to see industrials working in an authenthic setting. It is always nice to see guest engines that are not normally seen in such settings, so IMHO it is best to avoid Tanfield engines as they can be seen every weekend on a fantastic line.

Unless any ex NCB engines are coming onto the scene how about Peckett 2000 or Castle Donnington No.1? Both are restored nicely in traditional liveries. Falmouth docks HL 3597 currently at the Mid Suffolk is relatively rare and a real treat would be to return ex Bowaters WB2542 from Chappel back to Staffordshire for a weekend. Or how about an 'Ugly' if one is available by then? For the charter it would look good on the minerals with the iron ore tippler at the front....

    Cheers,

All this talk of poetry has left me "dazed and confused" but I will try and reply in kind. If "I can't get no satisfaction" writing a limerick then "this could be the last time" that I try.
A Peckett or two would be fine
But it's a matter of from which line
    The sound of their thrash
    Would bring in the cash
From the photters on the incline

"Oh well" I did try but if you don't don't like it you will have to "go your own way."

I cannot help but feel that this talk of sunlight is just "fools gold" and that for a different industrial experience a trip down "electric avenue" would be good , we can ask if "are friends electric"

In all seriousness and could foxfield bank be a "stairway to heaven"

Given the rise of the industrial perhaps it is time to theme a Foxfield Gala rather than just a visiting engine just to take it "one step beyond"

How about the Dunaskin Barclay ? or shall we save that until we can go for a full blown Waterside Recreation . No.17 at Tanfield in need of a little TLC and 24 cosmetically restored at Bo'ness

All this talk of music and lyrics has got me thinking. I thought 2010 would be the year of the crane tank but can Glenalmond confirm rumours (just started here and now by me) that all Foxfield locos will be fitted with calliopes for the summer gala?
