I'm on this one on 23rd February from London Liverpool Street with 70013 and had been wondering how Cromwell's Winter maintenance had got on.

Still a work in progress I believe and it's overunning causing Cromwell to be pulled from the North Norfolk Gala in March (see Steam Traction section). I'm wondering whether Britannia could substitute. If not there seems little point in running the tour as it's supposed to celebrate the anniversary of Brits first appearing in East Anglia.

Britannia is working the Nene Valley Gala that weekend, so if you still want to see a Brit working through the East Anglian countryside, Peterborough will be the place to head to!

I'm so glad the date was moved. No needs for replacement power now.

not too sure about that. The revised date for "The Anniversary Fensman" is 6th April. 70013 is booked for "The Buxton Spa Express" on that date and this is still being advertised by RTC.

Well, how are tickets sales going for the Buxton Spa in relations to this trip. Logisitics will have to be worked out I guess. They will figure something out whether they run one tour or both tours if that is the case.

Buxton Spa Express will be moved to a New date
70013 may have to work the Peak Forester on 14 April if Braunton is still not ready

Steam Railway Mag make it seem very unlikely that 70013 will be repaired and ready for the 6th April although RTC are hopeful. If not they do say they have a replacement and it will be steam hauled, with what I can only speculate perhaps 60019 or 60163? I do hope the Brit makes it.

RTC use West Coast and they do not operate 60163. I believe there was a gauging issue with A4'S at Liverpool Street - too high.

Well SD has postponed their Lincoln trip on April 4th because Bittern is not available, Tornado is on maintenance and the substitute loco - Britannia - has a bodywork job on at the moment.

There aren't many 75mph locos available at the moment. Clan Line? She should fit under the wires, but at 22 tons per driving axle, is she too heavy? Union of South Africa - too tall? Earl of Mount Edgcumbe - too wide? (and otherwise occupied on 6th April... oops!)

What a shame 61306 is not fully mainline certified...

Sympathies for all those who wont be able to take the rescheduled trip and all that, but I was kind of assuming and hoping it would be moved, now I can film the rescheduled one at a spot i scoped out, AND film the non stop run by the Earl. They would have clashed.

Cloud lining silver and all that.

One thing I have learned in this hobby, never make firm advanced plans around steam trips. They are never firm!

    What a bugger....

No doubt by then there will be a ban on steam due to fire risk.

So news about this trip continues to leak out. RTC now says, unsurprisingly, that it'll be Tangmere as there's nothing else. But you do have to admire the sleight of hand that turns their brochure information of "We leave London Liverpool Street at approximately 0900" into "We leave London Liverpool Street at 0704!!".

It's really clever what a bit of editing can do. The only problem is that it's one thing to advertise a popular trip as leaving at 0900. We can forgive them for pulling it back to 8 am. But a 7 am start (from Liverpool St in particular) makes getting to the train rather interesting. Was Network Rail really that inflexible? And it's not as if we get back any earlier either. It seems that the original journey time of about three and three quarter hours back from Kings Lynn has turned into FOUR and three quarters. Suddenly the whole day has two hours added....and at the front end.

So good luck everyone if you are travelling to London by rail for this. It looks like an overnight tent at L St for me....and you think I'm joking!
