Storage space is needed for a two car Class 107 Diesel Multiple Unit set

    All,

Regrettably it seems we shall have to scrap out 107 vehicles 51993 and 52012 since the Yorkshire Dales Railway want us to move the vehicles asap and all attempts to find a new home have so far proved fruitless.

If you can offer the vehicles a home please contact me at mjfroud@btinternet.com
    within the next 7 days.

Alternatively, if you wish to buy these vehicles rather than offer them a home
the minimum asking price is scrap value of £8,000. You would need to have a home and we would want to dispose of both vehicles together, preferably for
    preservation rather than scrap.

    Please no requests for spares.

    Regards

    Mike Froud

It probably doesn't help much right now, but when the S&D is a bit further along I suspect a 1st gen DMU or two could come in useful, but as it is I'd be surprised if they could help at the moment - and the other two lines around here (Mid-Hants and Swanage) already seem to have a fair complement of DMUs.

I hope you find somewhere soon - it would be a real shame to see them scrapped.

Just out of interest, what kind on condition are they in? E.g. are they runnable at all?

What reason has been given for the removal?

In February 2008, an agreement was reached to terminate the operating contract between Class 107 Ltd and the Yorkshire Dales Railway Museum Trust Ltd.

Use of the vehicles would cease in 6 months (August 2008) and Class 107 Ltd would have 12 months to find a new home for the units.

So, some 18 months later, the YDRMT Ltd are still awaiting the departure of the last unit.

Why is there a smiley where an 8 should be?

Because a figure " 8 " immediatly followed by a " ) " i.e. close bracket, is the code to insert that smiley.

    e.g. 8) ... 8) ... 8)

Just a thought, but have you tried asking the Weardale line if they could use it?

AFAIK they are relying on just 2 locomotives and a pacer unit at the moment - and with the extension to Bishop Auckland now in place Im sure they are going to need extra traction before too long.

Is it in operational condition? They don't seem to be in the photographs you provided but they were a while ago.
