This book is now advertised in the new issue of Heritage Railway (the one with 46115 on the cover). This is also priced at £7.99. Must be out soon. I will keep a look out for it tomorrow in London before boarding the CE with 60007.

Sorry, mate, it won't be there just yet. Inside information tells me that it went to press late this afternoon and is anticipated to appear on WH Smith's bookstalls on or around 12th July. 132 pages with 270+ photographs - all from 1968!

Thanks for the info. I had to order the British Steam book as I couldn't find it anywhere. It came within 2 days though. I'll probably have to do the same with Steam: The Grand Finale.

I can now officially announce - It's out at last! Almost sold out at my local Smiths within hours of going on the shelves! Clearly still an overwhelming interest in 'real steam'!

    Look at the following:

I've just ordered my copy from their website. Waste of time looking in my local WHsmiths (Aldershot). They didn't even get the British Steam one in at all (which I had to order). I even looked in the bigger WHsmith at Guildford (where I have been on jury service for 2 weeks) and all they had was one copy of the British Steam book for the whole 2 weeks ](*,)

It appears this one (at present) is slightly tricky to get your hands on. Yesterday I couldn’t find a single copy anywhere in the Liverpool area. Therefore I've just ordered my copy from their website :)

None on sale in Plymouth (Still lots of the 'Swindon' book half price though!). I see on the Mortons Books website that it is shown as "On sale now - Available in W H Smith stores from 24th July"... perhaps Skew Bridge's branch of WH Smugs has got some sort of Tardis facility that enabled them to nip forward in time and nab a few copies?!?

You've got me sussed!! I've had my copy for a whole week now! I would offer it for sale at a greatly inflated price on E-bay, but this is one I am going to keep!!

If it's of any assistance, I AM told that these 'bookazines' are usually only on sale in WH Smiths's (and WH Smugs's) main town centre outlets and NOT usually on the likes of railway station bookstalls (which tend to concentrate on Chocolates, fags, newspapers, women's mags, TV pages and, on the top shelf - soft porn).

As this post IS being displayed on the Heritage Railway page, I am sure that the people concerned would be extremely grateful to receive details upon precisely which WH Smiths' branches are still not displaying the copies that they certainly will by now have in their stockrooms.

So, I will set the ball rolling by publicly stating that none were available yesterday in Preston, Blackburn, Accrington, Stockport and Manchester Piccadilly.

    Any other offers?

PS Loads on sale at the Bluebell, so I am told! (Bit of a long way for me to go!)

Crikey - I'm shocked! Mind you, I've always wondered why those gricers wander around everywhere with a step ladder!

Still none in Plymouth's Smiffs today (though they still have some half price 'Swindon' books and some half price 'Doncaster' ones as well, along with enough sweeties to keep the nations dentists in business for a decade), so, as other's have suggested, I've ordered a copy today on the internet, so will look forward to seeing Postman Pat weaving his way up the front path in the near future clutching this much vaunted publication.

    Regards

    Andrew

None available in Smugs, Wigan today - either sold out, or not yet put on the shelves.
