I can't see a thread for this one so here it is. Timings now up on the Steam Dreams web site.

Rare to see steam on the GW/GCJ these days and I can't make up my mind whether to do a late booking or watch.
I think this will be the first Britannia over the route since 1965 when I used to spot them through High Wycombe on what looked like parcels traffic. The ones I saw were the former Scottish ones and I think were allocated to Banbury.

Rare to see steam through Ruislip, even rarer on a Sunday..................................................

I was going to say - is it actually running, given that as I write there was nothing on RTT........................... then I found THIS..........................

Will certainly nice to see the Brit pounding up through West Ruislip, and she Will be working! :)

I was in the very same thought as DD, after looking on RTT to then find Steam Dreams have the times.

4 minute stop at Warwick should make for a noisy run up Hatton bank.

I did a shot of 70000 between High Wycombe and Saunderton on Sunday 20 December 1992. It was on a 'William Shakespeare' which started at Ealing Broadway I believe.
More details are in 'The Railtour Files' of the Six Bells Junction web site:
    http://www.sixbellsjunction.co.uk/
There is an interesting PSOV video of 70000 on this trip at Banbury on YouTube at:

Further to the train times, it appears there's an engineering possession somewhere near Southall, as the Brit is being stabled overnight at Acton lane........................ times for the move, HERE....................... and the Sunday morning move HERE!! and then the drag back to Acton Lane Here And then the final leg back to Southall Monday morning 5Z47 Here [/URL]

I remember that trip very well indeed. I froze to death half way up Wilmcote bank doing sound. It was a very protracted effort to get out of Stratford on frosty rails and with use of sand forbidden, '13 slipped around 100 times before it got under way. I still have the recording.

Ah yes I forgot that one. I too was freezing vital bits off but at Kings Sutton and I forgot this one came up the GWGCJ.

According to RTT 70000 is using the N. Warwicks line back to Tyseley for servicing rather than the normal Dorridge/Hatton combination.

I remmber that occasion well , standing watching with a good friend and member of the 6024 society . 4472 had made a particularly dire departure not long before (months rather than hours !) and we didn't think anything could beat it . 70000 did that night and it was with great relief she finally got away

to be fair Stratford is a tricky departure with a S curve , rising gradient and residue on the track from the DMU's , Many a good loco has struggled with that combination

Are you sure you remember it well Martin? I don't recall 4472 being out that day and I certainly don't have any pictures of it dated 20/12/92 nor sound recordings. Maybe my memory is failing me but Six Bells Junction only lists the one tour that day as well.

Got to feel real sorry for all those involved, either working or traveling.............................................

Right, better start phoning the lads and tell 'em to go back to bed!!
