Timings now out for this next week.

Will be great to see Mayflower on the mainline again. I've not had the opportunity to see her before so I'll be there at WOS to see the arrival. Last opportunity to see steam in Worcester this year.

It will be interesting to see whether it's Mayflower or 44871. I've heard it will be the Five, but my sources aren't always totally reliable.

Has anyone seen any smoke signals coming from Carnforth since Mayflower's test run last week? Surely she should have had a loaded test run as well before resuming ML duties.

According to their website (and on a different thread here somewhere) it is doing all the pre Christmas tours. I assume along with its red "second tender"

Past midweek trips to Worcester have usually been load 9/10. So hopefully nothing on the inside, but then there is Sapperton.

Very unlikely we'll see that be attempted again ! I guess will just have to wait and see. Won't risk going out to see it if there's no reports !

Yes, but.... what time of year? Dry rails? Could be a bit damp and slippery down in the valley tomorrow evening

Knew I’d get the comment on conditions :) yes tomorrow evening could differ in rail head conditions. We’ll have to see what turns up at trust WCR have taken the right call.

Don't SD need a diesel to provide ETH for their Mk2s? Sure they said that last year which is why we didn't travel with them in the 'winter' months, not that this year counts as winter in the south so far.

Won't they just use the same stock that went to Sherborne today if loadings are similar ?

I think the "MK2" set is the old MHR "Green Train" set which is/was duel heated. I travelled on it back in 2009 with 70013 solo & was steam heated all day.

There have been times where coaches have moved between the two sets, but they normally tend to be separate rakes.

You are correct - the Steam Dreams set consists mainly of the old MHR stock and it doesn't need a diesel to provide heating. I last travelled on it last December with 70013. No diesel and nice warm coaches (well mine was anyway).

I have been told the same. Load 8 and no diesel. <BJ>
