    Hi all

The award winning and usually private Statfold Barn Railway near Tamworth is holding its first ever family friendly steam weekend over April 23rd/24th. This event is the Miniature Steam Rally, and will feature -
    • Over 70 Miniature Traction Engines in Steam 1.5" - 6" Scales
    • 5 SBR Engines in Steam on the Railway
    • 4 Full Size Road Steam Locomotives
    • Regular Steam Train Departures on the SBR from Statfold Jnc
    • Photo Op's and Turntable Demo's
    • Line Up and BIG Whistle - 2pm Each Day
    • Footplate Rides along New Road Platform with HC "Alpha"*
    • Other Members of the SBR Fleet On Static Display
    Indoor displays including -
    • "Peters Railway" Childrens Books
    • Toy Steam and Mamods
    • Meccano Locomotives
    • 16mm Live Steam Layouts (x2)
    • Fairground Models
    • Kinver Model Engineering Society
    • Penrhyn Quarry Railway Stand **
    • Model Trucks and much more!
** The Penrhyn Quarry Railway stand will be alongside three static Penrhyn locomotives. These are "Marchlyn", "Ogwen" and "Sybil Mary". This should allow us to think of the Penrhyn Quarry Railway and will be a nice opportunity to see the three locomotives together.

This will be the first time that the SBR has allowed entrance to Under 14s. Invitations are available as normal on the website at www.statfoldbarnrailway.co.uk and require a donation of £10 per Adult and £5 per Child. All profits from this event go to deserving local charities, of which SBR is a regular supporter. Please note that, like all SBR events, entry is not possible on the day without having an invitation already. These are available now on the website.

The locomotive roster for steam, subject to availability is -
    • Peckett 0-6-0ST "Harrogate"
    • Bagnall 4-4-0T "Isibutu"
    • Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0 Tender "Fiji"
    • Hudswell Clarke 0-4-0 No19
    • Newly Restored Hudswell Clarke No1172 "Alpha"*
    * "Alpha" will be on her second open day outing and will be offering short footplate rides along the New Road Platform at Statfold Jnc.

As I say these locomotives are subject to availability. Entrance includes unlimited travel on the narrow gauge steam railway. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the event, the SBR roundhouse at Oak Tree will not be open, hence the moving of some of the collection to Statfold Jnc for display.

This is the FIRST EVER event in SBR history to offer a family day out suitable for all the family so please support us if you can. We guarantee a very warm welcome and a lot of miniature steam engines to see! Come along and experience the thrill of steam in miniature, showing off engines that operated in the days when steam ruled the roads, the fields and the rails...

    Many thanks

    Hi all,

As an update, we are hoping to have the following full size road steamers at the event -
    * 1927-built Foster Gen Purpose "Fiery Elias" - made famous by Teddy Boston and as Trevor in Thomas the Tank
    * 1914-built Wallis Expansion Engine "Pedler"
    * 1927-built Wallis Simplicity Steam Roller 3-ton "Emily"

We are also hoping that SBR's Fowler Ploughing Engine (BB) will be in steam and also another engine from the home-based collection of road steamers (TBC)

Joining the Five road steamers will be well over 70 miniatures in 2" - 6" scales, various stands and displays and of course Five of the SBR's Narrow Gauge Steam Locomotives!

All attractions are subject to availability

A perfect family day out! Tickets available at www.statfoldbarnrailway.co.uk

Applying for tickets is simpler than it sounds! Simply go to www.statfoldbarnrailway.co.uk and click the link to the Steam Rally form. Once we've received your form and funds, your invitations to attend will then be sent out to you 3 weeks prior to the event. Entry includes unlimited steam train rides (we have 4 different steam loco's pulling trains for the children to enjoy) and of course our huge display of miniature engines and related steam rally stands! Statfold Barn supports local charities and all profits are distributed to such. Join us and help a good cause :)

This is the first ever all ages steam event in SBR history! Don't miss out...

    Hi there all

    Attraction List -

    * Refreshments and Trade Stands
    * Working Area in Miniature with 4" Wood Sawing and 6" Corn Milling

    Our "Penrhyn Story" -
Although 5 engines will be in steam and in action, you can join another 4 engines in the Traverser Shed for our own little "Penrhyn Story". Join static "Marchlyn", "Sybil Mary", "Ogwen" and "Bronllwyd" as they line up alongside a stand from the Penrhyn Quarry Railway society. This will be a chance to see all four of these Penrhyn survivors together under one roof and learn more about the fascinating story of Penrhyn. "Ogwen"s owner Martyn Ashworth will also be giving a talk each morning to interested visitors about the repatriation of "Ogwen", giving us an insight into bringing Quarry engines back home. This is a one-off occurance and something for the enthusiast at this family steam weekend. Also in the Traverser Shed will be local railway artist Jack Shaw who will be offering prints of a Penrhyn Quarry nature for sale. (The Fowler "Saccarine" will also be on display, but in the running shed amongst our stand displays :) )

    Tickets -
Click HERE for the booking form for the Miniature Steam Rally. All proceeds go to local charities and we look forward to seeing you there. Tickets will be posted out to you once the form has been received :)

A great opportunity to enjoy a day out with the family at the usually private Statfold Barn Railway
