It's a shame they have decided to return to one-day-only events. I work Saturdays but not Sundays so woon't be able to make them now. Ah well.

Err...sorry, but no...follow the link in the previous post, you will see a photo of completely different loco. It looks like an Exmoor, but I know no more than that I'm afraid.

Nice photos of Mull though - alas, by the time I got there the railway was long gone :(

Oops my mistake, sorry. Of course the Mull locos were 10 1/4 inch gauge not 12 1/4 inch. Should have read the post more carefully. Ah well, it wasa nice idea while it lasted. I'm sure the Spectacle of Steam will be great fun anyway.

Further info just spotted on the Statfold Facebook page:

"'Victoria’ 332 of 2007 was completed by our friends at Exmoor Steam Railway in September 2007 for the Tintern Steam Railway, however the railway was never built, and the locomotive moved to the Scarborough Fair Collection and remained in their museum until November 2021 when it was purchased by the Trust here at Statfold.

‘Victoria’ then returned back to the Exmoor Steam Railway to be overhauled by the Stirland Family and returned to steam in 2022, before arriving back at Statfold in February 2023."

First bus arrives 08.44, last one leaves at 17.30, so that's probably a good indication of times.

Yesterday was my first visit to Statfold - what an incredible place! Despite the rain I thoroughly enjoyed the day, the amount of 'stuff' going on at any one time is really impressive, and the whole place runs really smoothly. It's also brilliant to be able to get so close to the locos in the yard in-between turns. Hats off to the organisers and many thanks for putting on such a great show. I only wish I'd bought appropriate footwear to be able to walk out along the lineside and get some pics.

I'm so impressed that I'm heading back in a few weeks for the Model Rail event with some friends + partner, including a young 'un who I'm hoping will enjoy the trains and the soft play. Also hoping to get a ride on the new Mease Valley line - the queue to get on the trains was so long that I chose to miss out yesterday.

My first visit too. I may be wrong but I think there were 15 in steam plus “The Goose”, the tram and “Plymouth”. As you say, it was all very impressive.

16 in steam I believe, 14 on the main running services plus Jack on the 18" then Victoria on the new line, 17 if you count the Marshall traction engine Pearl.

    A few between the showers...
