    It seems the L.M.S. only got the 2-6-2 tank right at the third attempt. However no-one else had an effective medium small machine of this type arranged for straightforward maintenance.

    I gather that the Fowler 2-6-2T was something of an abomination, but its strange that the LMS took so long to get the 2-6-2T right when their various 2-6-4T's and the Riddles BR version were so magnificent.

    I have added a new collection of photos featuring Stanier Class 2 0-4-4T
    The London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) Class 2 Stanier 0-4-4T was a class of 10 light passenger locomotives built in 1932. Ostensibly designed under new Chief Mechanical Engineer (CME) William Stanier, they were in fact the last new design of the Midland Railway's school of engineering
