The SRPS have announced 2 dates with the Duchess.

    Friday 12 September.
From POLMONT, Falkirk Grahamston, Cumbernauld, Wishaw
Diesel-hauled southbound to Lancaster and Crewe. Steam-hauled northbound by 'Coronation' Class 46233 'Duchess of Sutherland' from Crewe along the West Coast Main Line over Shap and Beattock summits. For a longer break passengers may spend a few hours in Lancaster.

    Sunday 14th September.
From LINLITHGOW (morning train) & DALMENY or INVERKEITHING (afternoon train)
Morning and afternoon steam specials round the 'Forth Circle'; over the Forth Bridge, along the Fife Coast and round the Fife Circle to Dunfermline, then along the shores of the Firth of Forth to Kincardine and through Alloa to Stirling, and returning through Larbert and Falkirk.

And none of them are a real 'challenge', it's all in a days work and what they were designed for.

Put a few more on the hook & it might give the Duchess a bit of a challenge ! But otherwise, it should breeze it !

Well she took the equivalent of 16 over Shap a couple of years back and still topped the summit in the 20s.

I think the flags may upset some photographers, not sure about their effect on the Scottish Independence supporters though...
