    Evening All,

As some of you may be aware, the bi-annual Farnborough Airshow is on this week and we Farnborough residents are being treated to some spectacular flying displays. However, once the main flying programme was over yesterday I heard the sound of further aero engines and rushed outside with camera in hand in time to see an Avro Lancaster and a Supermarine Spitfire come into view.

I clicked away as they went overhead and did a couple of circuits with the Spitfire doing some areobatics. The results are now on Flickr and, if anyone is interested to have a look, here's the first one; clicking on it will enlarge it and take you to the others :

If anyone also happens to be interested in modern day aeroplanes, there are some pictures here :

I've still got today's pictures to add and who knows what the rest of the week will bring?!

Hope that they are of interest.

When I went to Fleet station on Monday to photograph 'Clan Line', I got chatting to another photographer on the footbridge. He lives in Fleet and said that he had seen the Vulcan fly in on Sunday.

    Avro Vulcan over Farnborough.

    Morning All,

Having spent the week on static display at the Farnborough Airshow, the Avro Vulcan finally took to the Farnborough skies yesterday (Friday) afternoon. Some pictures are now on Flickr and this is the first one; clicking on it will enlarge it and take you to the others :

Cracking photos there. It was nice that the sky cleared & the sun came out for her display yesterday. Anybody wanting to see the flying without getting a ticket then I can recommend going to the Southwood Pavillion https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=So...7906,0.676346&t=h&hq=Southwood+Pavillion&z=15 as there's quite a bit of parking & you get a great (almost uninterupted) view of the displays. I shot this yesterday from there Vulcan XH558 - Farnborough - 13/07/12 - YouTube plus I got a few good photos of the Typhoon too which I'll upload tonight. I did want to go to the Eelmoor end of the runway, but there's nowhere to park as everywhere is coned off (unless you're on a bike or walking then you're laughing).

Fine shots, what software do you edit with. Some have stabilisation available, but as you say the Youtube one is pretty rubbish. I tried it once, never bothered again..

    Re: Avro Vulcan over Farnborough.

Cheers. I just use the good old windows movie maker, nice & simple. One day I'll have to look in to getting some s/w with stabilisation as it bugs me when I end up with a shaky video. Nowadays I generally use a tripod, but on shots like this I use my monopod, as it gives a good trade off between having a steady enough picture to keep the subject in the middle of the view most of the time, whilst being able to have complete flexibilty over range of movement. I have to use something as I just use a normal camera rather than a nice weighty video camera to video with, although I keep watching Ebay for an XM2 at a very good price.

I'm lucky; I can see quite a bit from my front doorstep! Thanks for the tip though. Southwood Pavillion isn't far from me.

Thank you Ralph for your kind comment, I'm glad you like it.

We seem to have 3 threads on Farnborough. Is it worth combining them?
