Southend Pier currently has two Severn-Lamb diesel 7-car trains, built 1986. It also has a single railcar. Little seems to be known about this except that it is a three-axle battery electric, with a 4HP motor, and was built by CastleLine in Nottingham in 1995.

It may have been intended for winter passenger workling, but now seems only to be used for staff movements.

Does anybody know anything about about this railcar, or the company (there was a company by this name with an engineering background, but that seemed to have been based in Cardiff, and is shown as dissolved in 2002 on the Companies House database), and whether or not they had any other involvement in railway engineering?
