Now announced that the first visitor will be GWR pannier 6430, which was once shedded at Kidderminster in the 1930s.

    SVR website:

    All locomotives great and small!
Our second visting locomotive for our Spring Gala might not be what you expected...

One of our 2 foot, 3 inch cousins at the Talyllyn Railway will be venturing to the Midlands from West Wales to star in our Spring Steam Gala.

No. 4 Edward Thomas will be following in the footsteps of No. 3 Sir Haydn which appeared at our Autumn Steam Gala in 2013 on the back of a wagon.

From March 18th to 20th, the visiting narrow gauge locomotive will be in steam on a temporary track for all to see.

The 0-4-2ST was built in 1921 by Kerr, Stuart & Co. Ltd. for use on the Corris Railway, and was purchased by the Talyllyn in 1951 and named after the TR's former manager.

Famed as Peter Sam in the Thomas the Tank Engine novels, No. 4's visit to the Severn Valley is sure to turn some heads...this little engine is sure to be a big attraction!

Hopefully with the 64, in addition to the resident 14xx, 45xx and 15xx, we will have a nice GWR secondary line feel (We are a GWR line after all) and plenty of locals. I have no say in such matters, just dropping a less than subtle hint at what I would enjoy! lol

In sharp contrast to what the ASG might be like, depending what else is coming for that.

this thread is a little quiet at the moment, surely people have comments they wish to add or questions they wish to ask?

No I do not currently volunteer
Accommodation booked and looking forward to it as I have not been since it snowed in March 2013.
Even that made for some good photos of which I tweeted quite a few.

    So what's the line-up -:

    V: 6412 / 6430 / 6990 / TR no4
    H: 1450 / 1501 / 2857 / 4566 / 7802 / 7812

Will 43106 and 34053 be back from their holidays?
How far off is 813? Guessing 7714 more ASG?

7714 is expected for the summer, 813 might be in light steam.
9 locos isn't bad for the SSG.

I'll be there no matter what. SVR never fails to put a show on. Just wonder how cramped some of the shuttles will be with autotrains left/right/centre!

Looks more like a revival of the "Branch line" gala's of a good many years ago, with locals hear, there and everywhere, and very little going the full length of the line.... lets hope so because that was fun! (And very successful)

For those wondering where no. 4 Edward Thomas will be running, the SVR website says at the Engine House.

The SVR site page tells me, if I'm reading it right, that discounted "pre-book and save" tickets for the SSG "are not available for purchase from booking offices in advance." I definitely was offered the relevant discount when buying a ticket for the 2015 ASG at Kidderminster booking office about a week in advance, so is this a change of policy or was I just lucky to get it last year?

Hmm, it was definitely the policy previously. I'll try to find out about this as I hadn't noticed. There's definitely signs in Kidderminster Booking office saying the date when you can buy tickets of the SSG.

Thanks for the info, guys. It's not a big deal for me; just that if I can't get the discount, I might as well show up and pay on the day and save some (very minor) extra hassle.
