Have just booked for this one - nice timings from Preston. Last time I went over Shap with steam was 60532's farewell run in 2001 (WAY too long ago :( ), so really looking forward to it.

One question - what's parking like round Preston station? How busy does it get? Suggestions/advice welcome from those who know the area.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Preston will be busy at that time but the car park is big so you should not have too much trouble getting in there, note that as you drive down Butler Street with the station on your right, the open car park on you left is for the shopping centre, the station one is the multi story further down.
