It was terrible hard work on the trip to Plymouth a few weeks ago. Being fed. Constant tea and coffee. Fantastic service and staff. The only tough bit was the 0055 finish back at Solihull.

That has just made my day finding the train times for double header up the lickey. Good timings too. Be interesting if the steam train will get the green light straight up the lickey or will be looped into bromsgrove station ??

anyone have any good photo spot locations up the bank?

Fingers cross the local rags don't pick it up, otherwise we're looking at mass crowds.

Regardless of whether it is in the local press or not there will be mass crowds at the Lickey.

Depends, I expect a decent turnout but so far it seems to have gone under the radar its also in the midweek and not on the weekend. I would be surprised if we get 2012 Lizzie numbers !

Vigo foot crossing is a good location, although it is likely to be very crowded.
An alternative is the public footpath on the south side of the line accessed from Blackwell Lane or Hewell Lane (B4096).
I used the footpath back in March 2012 to film the Double Lickey Banker.
Two things will have changed since then, the trees will be in full leaf and the presence of the OHLE.

Did I not read somewhere that there was also palisade fencing all the way up now?

Have you actually met Mr Hosking to form that opinion or is it just someone else's? But I do agree with you on the Mk2 aircons.

D213 has gone solo along the NWC. Load 11 incl generator. Load 11 on diesel legs and 12 from Bristol with mk1’s leading providing stock doesn’t turn in Bristol

The stock is not scheduled to be turned at Bristol.

D213 is due to be looped at Bromsgrove from 17:09 - 18;26. The steam charter passes at 18:10. <BJ>

Apologies if the wrong place to post-here’s a camera phone photograph of D213 passing through Cheltenham at lunchtime. I was changing trains and so this filled in the wait quite nicely.

Very nice. You were wearing a red top if I remember rightly. I was on the other platform.

By ‘eck, for those of us not lucky enough to have lived in the real steam age it surely can’t get much better than Bromsgrove station this evening? An EE Type 4 ticking over awaiting the road whilst a double headed express hurtles through on full throttle hauling a matching rake of crimson and cream coaches! This forum isn’t about politics and i just want to say ‘Thanks Mr Hosking’ :)

Amazing sound as the pair passed us about 2/3rds up. One of them sounded like it picked up its water but soon got back into its stride. When was the last time a scot went up the Lickey?

Quick dash to Barnt green to see half the village still out to see the 40 come through following a XC 170.
