Discussion in 'Narrow Gauge Railways' started by Southernrailway21c123, Feb 3, 2017.

    Dear all,
This is the 90th anniversary year for this amazing little railway, one i have the pleasure of volunteering at. There is a lot going on to celebrate this wonderful achievement made by all on the railway past and present.
We kicked things off with New Year's running in January, then this month February we have got children's week on the railway between the 11th and 17th with our little engine Basil the Bug in steam or on display each day. We then skip ahead to April to our Kent big weekend out. In May we have 90th anniversary steam and diesel gala WITH A 90 MILE CHALLENGE! being taken up hopefully by our mountain class Hercules and all other available locos out. In June we have our small traction engines, beer festival and father's day with a mixture of different visiting miniature railways, model railways and traction engines, why not try some of the county's finest ciders and maybe try the new Romney ale, dads will get the opportunity to drive a steam train for free. In July between the 1st and 2nd you have the chance to see Peppa Pig at New Romney station. Then to the 15th and 16th the railways 90th Anniversary Birthday Party packed with historical content-including events and re-enactments, all available locos out. This is the event of the year not to be missed. Then we end the month with the New Romney country fair which is the largest free event on the Romney Marsh and we will be offering a early morning diesel hauled service to New Romney. To August where we have our lifeboat open day on the 13th where trains will be stopping near the lifeboat station. The 26th,27th and 28th August bank holiday fun weekend. September we have got the bus rally day on the 10th where there will be vintage buses and coaches at New Romney and a complimentary bus trip from New Romney to Dungeness. Saturday the 23rd and Sunday 24th gives you another chance to see Peppa Pig at New Romney. Then to October where our main running season comes to an end with the 27th,28th,29th and 31st put together for spooky after dark express trains, ghostly games and activities, Halloween themed food. Finally the End of Season Parade arrives on the 28th and 29th rounding off what should be a spectacular 90th Anniversary year, with a special tribute to our two mountain class locomotives Hercules and Samson.

    Here's to a wonderful 90th Anniversary Year,

    Will T
