Great images. I too was there; it was a wonderful show. Does anyone know of a video/DVD of it which is available? I've been looking for a while for one.

You can see my shots of the cavalcade here - Zenfolio | Mick Pope - Railway Related | 'Rocket 150'. Just record shots but there was not much else you could do given the location and crowds. I was pleased the 'Austerity' had it day of fame alongside all the more famous locos - lets hear it for the local lad!

I know this is a 6-year-old thread but I've been wondering about something recently. Does anyone remember there being a repeat of this planned in 2000 or 2001? I seem to remember it was going to be very big but they couldn't close the track or something. I remember the KWVR had an impromptu steam gala with 65894 visiting over the weekend it should have happened. Have I made this all up?

I was involved in the 1980 event but don't recall hearing anything about a planned event in 2000. What would have been the significance anyway? L&M 175 would have been in 2005 and L&M 200 will be in 11 years time.

Rail 175... It was Shildon that was due to held the 2000 event that was cancelled, NYMR and KWVR held some events as replacements.

That was the one. I remember the NYMR one as well now. Why did it get cancelled?

No-wonder I got them mixed up. Half the locos were in both events. I remember Gordon, Evening Star and the Midland compound especially. In fact, I'd never realised they were 2 separate events.
