    The Summer of 2010 saw quite possibly the most steam workings in recent memory with steam loco's operating in literally every corner of the UK. A resurgance of steam on the S&C was something that really pulled in the crowds,with "The Fellsman","The Cumbrian Mountain Express" and "The Waverley" all operating over the route,giving 3 days a week of steam operation! Of course steam wasn't limited to the north,the usual action in the south took place,including the "Torbay Express".

    Highlights from this period include:

    The Scarborough Spa Express with 5690 'Leander'
    The Cumbrian Mountain Express
    The Fellsman
    60163 'Tornado' on the East Coast Mainline
    6024 'King Edward I' on "The Torbay Express"....from a plane!

    828 in operation on the Strathspey Railway

    This period saw a lot of favourable weather with steam operating throughout the UK,the now annual "Great Britain" chase took place for the first time and saw us return with 11 decent shots. Steam in June saw some extremely hot and sunny conditions throughout Britain.

    Some wonderful weather in this period wielded some great pictures from across the UK,we saw the return of 'Tangmere',in it's usual spectacular fashion in February on a test run around the Carnforth-Blackburn loop. This was followed by a wonderful gala at the West Somerset Railway which witnessed 70000 'Britannia' returning to traffic after overhaul. Back in January there was also the magnificent sight of a pair of "Caprotti's" doubles heading at the East Lancashire Railway's Winter Steam Gala where 71000 'Duke of Gloucester' and BR Std Class 5 73129 teamed up!

    Highlights from this period include:

    73129 and 71000 double heading at the ELR
    The WSR Spring Steam Gala
    The debut of GWR Steam Railmotor no.93
    35028 on the VSOE

    This period was blessed with not only sunny conditions,but also plenty of snow as Britain came to a standstill in one of the worst (and earliest) Winter's for nearly 50 years. The Autumn of 2010 provided some stunning images from the Isle of Wight right up to the West Highlands,this was one of the few years where absolutely glorious conditions blessed the Scottish Charters in October.
