    Hi all,

I have just added a new update (sorry about how long it's taken!) to The Railways of Great Britain - Home which covers the whole of January-March in both the steam and diesel categories. My thanks as always to the contributors.

The Winter of 2013 was one of longest lasting for many years, with freezing temperatures for all but one week of the period! This period saw a variety of weather conditions with multiple instances of sun and snow, that perfect combination that photographers will travel miles to capture. The heaviest snow fell in late January, prior to a huge ECML diversion via Knottingley and Milford meaning that some very interesting, deep snow pictures were obtained! Also evident is the resurgence of the class 56 with 4 different locos pictured in this period,3 of them main line operational.

    This period's images come from:
    Alan Burkwood
    Gordon Edgar
    Oli Goodman
    Mark Walker

    Highlights from this period include:

    37688 in the south west
    DRS 37's on tour
Deep January snow in North Yorkshire
    Barrow Hill Night Shoot
    A class 60 on gypsum
DRS 37's on nuclear waste trains
    47760 at Doncaster
    The return of 56105
56311 on a new flow of coal from Butterwell to Thoresby, seen on the "South Yorkshire Joint"
DRS 37's on track infrastructure trains
