    Hi All,

I will be using this thread to post updates for the website I am compiling, namely railwaysofgb.com.

The idea of RofGB in a number of months/years will be to have it as one of THE best places for railway photography, videos and audio,as I type I am editing/listening to 76079 blasting (and slipping!) up the 1 in 50 to Talerddig in 2002. It's things like this and photos/videos that I shall be uploading, right from 1960 to the present day that I hope will draw enthusiasts from all around the world to see what we have in Britain!

Currently images are taken from a small number of photographers but it is likely this may grow, however it will never become too large, the idea is to keep the website for "the best",not necessarily quality (audio/video mainly) but "those" performances that everyone who has either been on the tours/at galas/at the lineside remembers,as well as those that one may not remember quite so readily. Put in short,I plan for RofGB to be the place to go!

I must thank before I link the latest collections, the contributors, without whom the site would be completely impossible,it's thanks to them that it exists in the first place!

The Spring and Early summer of 2013 saw the annual "Great Britain" trip which featured 60009 making a visit to Aberdeen, only the 3rd occasion since 1966! It was a good period for A4's with 4464 'Bittern' performing magnificently on a 90mph run from London Kings Cross to York at the end of June. We also saw the return to traffic of 45699 'Galatea' after 50 years out of service, well done all at Carnforth!

The summer of 2013 saw some of the warmest temperatures and most glorious days for many years,of course this meant that the dreaded fire risk reared it's head meaning that many trains were scarred by the presence of a diesel (Usually a class 47) either at the front or at the rear of trains. Luckily our photographers managed to capture the best of the unassisted workings, still in glorious conditions!

The Winter of 2014 saw plenty of wet weather in the North during the early part of the season but as Spring beckoned it generally brightened up allowing a number of great shots to be taken, particularly of the latter "WCME" trains. A first in this period was a wonderful photo charter on the Paignton and Dartmouth Railway utilising 7827 'Lydham Manor' on a rake of Chocolate and Cream Mk1's,well done to all involved in finally arranging this!

The Early Summer of 2014 was graced with decent weather nationwide, not only this but also some of the most interesting workings for a good while. Finally we once again saw steam on the Far North Line,in the shape of "The Cathedrals Explorer" behind Black Five no.44871,it was thought at the time that this may be the last, but thankfully next year's "Great Britain" is to head to Wick! We also witnessed a Triple Headed ECS working for a "West Coast Railways" gala at the Mid Norfolk Railway...very unusual indeed! Oh and there was the small matter of 50 years since the end of Western Region steam thrown in there somewhere as well!
